So many choices.....opinions?

well ive been looking around for a new car for a while.....and i just cant freakin decide what i want to get, here is my situation there are alot of cars i am considering, what would you do if you were 18 and still in college looking to move out in a few years..... And keep in mind I should still have my current cavalier as a beater, not costing me much in insurance to keep it, but i will probably end up getting rid of it in like 2 years or once it starts getttin way up there in millage

buy a 00-05 z24/ls sport cavalier and GM s/c it plus mod it alot like i did the one i have now, exsept it would be ALOT faster, keep the exterior low key so kind of a sleeper look....do not have to take car payements which is a plus (might consider a 03+fire)

buy a new saturn ION redline, dont have to do much to it out of the box, would have to take car payments, but i have a brand new car

buy a used 2004 GTO, gonna have to take some what big car payments, but damn it would be a sweet car and gas wouldnt be an issue since i should have the cav as a beater

buy a used v-6 camaro, honestly i dont know if i want the 6, how fast are they? i found a 99 white one that's a v-6 5spd 55,000 miles, drop top and its only like 11,200

buy a used z28/ss camaro, gonna have to take car payments for a used car but it would be hell of a quick car

and finally the long shot option....
buy a used ZR2 package s-10, then i have something for off-roading, towing, etc.....and then keep my current cav as a project car for boost/repaint/ and pretty much a re-vamp

Keep the one car and save all the money that I'd be spending on the new vehicle so that I could have money for when I got a job and could afford the payments on a nicer vehicle.

Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home

In all honesty, in your situation, I'd stay away from big car payments. Keep in mind that a gto or f body is going to rape you on insurance as well, unless you have it under a parents policy. Save up your money and buy something with cash if you really want something else. You can pick up an lt1 f body pretty cheap these days, or an older mustang. The good deals are out there. I just picked up a 96 formula convertible for $3150, it's not mint, but with a little bit of work it will be.

I'd focus on school, if you're at a job busting your balls to make a car payment and high insurance, your school work will suffer, I've been there done that.

I agree with the people above. There is really no need for expensive car payments in college. You will regret it.

Personally i made it through 4 years without a car at all, but it really depends on the school and location. There were always friends around with a car, so i never really needed one. There were also buses if you needed to get somewhere.

In the long run, saving your money and not being broke because you have to make car payments is the best way. Things add up VERY fast.

well like you said, you wanna move out in a few years. honestly if i were you, i wouldnt go out and get a new car. they money you are going to be spending for payments, you could put away and save so you can move out. that was my mistake. i thought about buying a new car but then realized, my cav runs fine and it will be paid off soon and my integra is mine already so there is no need for me to spend extra money on somethin' i dont need. i would just drive your cav or maybe just pick up a cheap realiable car for like 1500 and then save

A second car really is a luxury.. and as a college student I don't see why you would need to 2 cars.. there are college students that can't afford 1 car let alone 2.

If you really want a new car, then wait til you want to really get rid of the cav or when the miles are high. If youre going to school, having two cars is pointless. Just keep the cav and use that. Its nice enough and will get you places for now.

97cavy22: dude if you want another vehicle, by all means get one. youre a mature adult, you know your limits. me for one, i see nothing wrong with having 2 vehicles.(i have 3 lol..) but then again all mine are paid for. but the bottom line is if you want 1 vehicle or 50 vehicles, its all about what you want and what fulfill your needs. personally i say go for it. thers nothing like having 2 vehicles. and im soon to add another...cough cough ....... cobalt ss/sc

ClassGlass / RkSport / Eibach / Motegi / Ractive / Borla / K&N

well ive worked my ass off to advance from a cashier to a manager at a grocery store up the street from my house, so im making good enough money as a college student to do this, considering the cav is only about 60.00 bucks a month after the 3 year no accident discount state farm is giving me this month, then i dont see why i coudlnt keep it

well to everyone that says keep the cav and just drive it, well the car has like 84,000 miles on it, and id rather buy a new car, something id have for a while now, so when i do start getting closer to moving out in two years or so i have a still under-warteny car i dont have to worry about

and honestly i think i finally made up my mind, i was reading a post about the saturn sky, done a ton of research on it, and i hoenstly i love that car.....they dont come out for a little while so it gives me time to possible pay the car in full, or almost all of it.... but i think thats just what i may do
