Here's them bashing on the Ion..
"But we've spent lots of time in cars with center gauge pods, and we still find it unnatural to glance to the right."
Apparently, grievous design flaws are acceptable quirks when you spend $135K.
So much for my C&D subscription.. What a bunch of morons.
I'm not quite to the point of cancelling my subscription but I've very close. C&D is on very thin ice with me.
"Fiery words fuel debate and debate yields understanding"
I'm not a subscriber to C&D, but if I was I would have already cancelled my subscription. The first strike was the GTO vs. Mustang, in which the Mustang won solely based on the "gotta have it factor", even though it was outperformed by the GTO in every category
??
Then theres the whole recent trend of the domestic bashing, seems that no matter what the criteria is, the imports always come out in the top spots.
Then of course there is the most recent article, "Cheap Speed". Not only do they choose the slowest and most expensive car, but who would have guessed, its an import. That review was so flawed it was a joke, you wouldn't even have to read the article to tell that it doesn't even make sense. Apparently somewhere along the way they totally forgot the title and the purpose of the test
I'll stick to MotorTrend thanks very much. They've been good for years, and rarely do I read an article that is flawed or misleading. Out of all the mags, they seem to be one of the most unbiased.
My CarDomain Page
C&D is extremely biased, especially towards Honda and BMW vehicles.
C+D sucks. a bunch of whiney bitches f u ask me.
i remember one guy said the mech one was a bad car based soley on its hard to see cause of the hood scoop.
take off your panties for 5 seconds k buddy?

I like to read the letters from the readers to the magazines. Those are always good for a laugh because they always call out C&D on the stupid @!#$ they pull for the tests. It's funny to see that it's not just us that realizes these inconsistencies.
Here's another example.. They did a review on the Toyota Echo..
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=39&article_id=3231
"Maybe that, plus its original styling and funky center gauge cluster, will make the Echo the hottest item since Pokemon cards."
More quotes from the Ion reviews..
"Now the gripes. Most "centered" around the center-mounted gauge pod that editors described as "counterintuitive," "confusing," "distracting," and old reliable "stupid."
So I guess if it's a Toyota, it's "funky", but if it's an Ion, it's "stupid".. What a bunch of stupid idiots.

I cancelled my C & D subscription after 2 years when I realized "import" was in every other sentence. Same for Road & Track.

see, this is what happens when you buy a magazine to read... just look at the pictures, GOSH!
I like looking at the pictures and reading about what they have to say but I have noticed that they are really biased towards imports, and it pissed me off that the Ridgeline was the #1 truck because of all the nifty little storage compartments and crap.
People don't buy trucks for that reason, and the towing capacity on it was one of the lowest in the test, but because of that little H on the nose, it is exempt from common sense testing I suppose.
I just enjoy the little trips they make like the trip to the Manson house.
a honda truck will always be a piece of @!#$.

it's not even a truck, it's a mini van with a bed and a new grill. the bigest platfrom and motor honda makes are from the freaking mini van atleast toyota and nissan acutally make V8 motors for trucks and seperate frames
WTF were GM engineers thinking when they put the gauges in the middle of the dash? The Ion's a nice little car except for that. I don't have a subscription to any magazine because I go to the local libraries and read them all there

Maybe they were thinking "what's going to get people talking about this car more?" I'm willing to bet there are people that take that car out for a test drive JUST to see what it would be like with the center gauges. Or maybe they just weren't thinking... who knows.

Yeah I'm pretty pissed at C&D too. They are getting to be a**es about anything domestic except the Chrysler LX car....which are german for all practical purposes. However R&T somewhat redeemed themselves by having the SS BEAT the RSuX.....lol.

yeah that is the only good part
good thing I can read them at the store
I take it Lone wolf you are holding a grudge because you own a Ion and they spoke badly about it?
Personally on theion RL I got used to it, but I rather have it in front of me. I like to ONLY look down at the gauges. NOT twist my head 20 degrees right AND then look down. When you are in a enclosed track it can be a problem especially when the car is a manual. For around town commutes and w/ auto tranny, it is less critical.
As for Ridgeline, I can see all the fuss is about, "not tough" and all. But today what are the intensions on compact/mid-size truck? They hard see HD applications. Like GM says: "We lowered the tow-rating on Colorado compared to the S-10 so we can offer a more car-like ride, if you want to tow heavy stuff buy a Silverado." Quite honestly I could agree more.
The Ridgeline won because it can match body on frame in light-duty applications but have a ride where you will not the straightness of your spine (car-like).
For going and picking up stuff at Home-Depot, dropping off the kids, or do ride on paved roads 98.9% of the time which these little trucks see, the Ridgeline has it set.

???
the pony has always won over the goat???
what are you talking about?
every c&d contest or any mag/show that ever compares them the pony has always won...i never thought it was right but i've seen a dozen different places rank the pony better in especially in speed
i didnt say i agreed with it its just the way i've seen it

Yeah the Ridgeline uses Honda's Global Light Truck Platform, but it was not from the new Odyssey.....it was the Honda Pilot. The new Odyssey uses it now.

Truthly, maybe somewhat.. It just ticks of me off that on an Ion it's "stupid", but on imports it's "funky" and "functional".. I think they're bunch of morons who don't know anything about cars..

what @!#$ head magazines would rate the mustang better than a gto in speed
ive herd alot of crap abotu them being VERY once sided, and pretty much every contest where a honda is involved, the honda wins, no matter what
I only get C&D cause it is like $10 a year haha..
If it were any more I wouldn't get it.
