As you know I picked up another DSM. A 1991 FWD Turbo eclipse. Here's the post and pics if you didn't know.

I got the car for a few hundred bux. Knowing it didn't run. The guy said it was something simple but he didn't know. Wasn't very mechanicly inclined. For the price it was worth it if I just got the turbo setup/fuel setup. Picked it up and the rims are in perfect shape with some really nice brand new tires. 300 miles on them. I got the receipt with it.
Well, I got it home and started messing with it. The battery was toast so I dropped another battery in it I had laying around. It just did the "click click" so I took the starter off and tested it. Was bad. So dropped a new starter on it and now it turns over but really slow. Like the starter is moving it and thats it. I'm going to see if a bearing in something is jacked up. Then check the coil packs to see if its getting good spark. I have a feeling something serious is wrong.
Here's my plan if something is wrong. I have found a few 91 Sonata blocks for 100-200 bux. I think i'm going to pick up the 2.4 SOHC block. Drop the 2.0 head on it from the turbo (yes they mate up I did my homework) and the turbo setup on it. Once the motor is done either put it back in the eclipse or put it in the Talon. I haven't decided on that yet.
So when i'm done I should have a 91 DSM 2.4 DOHC turbo. Should be a mean start. Now I really wish the car was AWD and I would be putting it in the eclipse no doubt.
first off good luck, ive been into the 4g63 motor 4 times allredy. most starters on dsm's dont spin that fast. thats perfectly normal. big things to check is the condition of the timing belt and where the timing marks are at. check the wires coming off the cam angle sensor because on the old 1g's the wires in the engine bay get hard and brittle with age and heat. the CAS wires were a big problem on mine. also once you get it running you might have idle surge. if you do check the ISC and make sure the BISS is there or adjusted properly. also do a boost leak test to make sure you dont have any vac/boost leaks. if you really wanted to take the time and be sure on the engines condition then do a compression test and leakdown test. while your at it change the fuel filter at least because it is just right next to the battery and could cause a headach.
also a great site for many DSM related little problems and tips

lmao! Be sure the tape this project and mail it to Funniest home videos.
I have built a 2.7L 4G64/4G63 hybrid engine! This sould be good.

^^ Right, because you know how much I can and cant do on cars right? Someone thinks I can do it cause I make decent money doing it for a living.
I would like to know how you got a 2.7L out of a 4G64/4G63. Please enlighten me on this one. You obviously know so much. Let the bull @!#$ begin.

only way i can possibly concieve that with a 4g63 setup is buying the 2.4 stroker kit which strokes the bottom end (crank/rods) and putting the (64? dont remember whicher one the 2.4 spyder is) head on it. but then the math wouldnt add up right and i think it would be a big headache with turbo tuning etc.
anyway JuicedDSM(AKA RedAssassin): let me know if you need any tips/advise/whatever with the dsm's. ive done enough research and torn apart the engine enough times to know a whole @!#$ load about the cars. and almost every problem concievable has happened with the car except a fire or blowing up (but i might do that myself!)
now thats an idea i never even thought of... should be a pretty quick car once its done... good luck with it man... DSM are addictive.... wish i coulda kept mine

Thanks, I really wish I would have kept that 96 Neon I had for a daily driver. But i'm just gonna use the motor from the turbo eclipse so i'll still have my car. Then in like a decade =P when its done i'll pull that motor and drop in the other. I can make it with just me and my wife sharing a vehicle for a couple weeks.
a 2.7 could be done with a stroked and bored 2.4 sonota block with bore matched head. tuning wouldnt be as hard as you think, when you go to tune a car you pretty much start from scrach anyway

I also might be doing this as a 2nd play toy with a turbo Eclipes & 89 Sonata 4g64... hybrids are the greatest
