Anyone help me with this list please?
Thursday, August 04, 2005 3:34 PM
I'm contemplating purchasing another vehical to replace my current dailey driver. I'm really interested in something that's put together well and is pretty reliable, but also something that has at least somewhat of an aftermarket. I'm also never going to drive an auto, so they need to have a 5-speed option too This car I'm looking at needs to last me only a couple years until I get out of school and get a nice job. So, in the mean time, I'm looking for common cars that can be found for probably around like 6-6.5k. I've been trying and trying to find a list of factory turbocharged cars but have really come up with nothing. If anyone can help me add to this list, I'd be much appreciated Thanks. Sorry I don't have much of a list to start with

i've got a 2001 Corolla, lightly modified, that's got your name ALLLLL over it

...dead serious, too. gets great gas mileage, is nice on the insurance, doesn't have a lein against it...is lowered, has aftermarket exhaust, tint, aftermarket hood and wheels, polyurethane 7 piece TRD lip kit. still under warranty for the drivetrain(have a little under 40k miles left on her). sure, no turbo, but it's supposed to be a daily driver.

you know you want it. she's screaming your name.

Haha, sorry man, I need factory boosted. I'm not screwing around trying to boost another non factory one again. I don't want to deal with the problems and all the extra work. Heh. I also want a car that isn't previously moded because most of the time, people drive them like aholes when they do.

I also forgot about the most common one, DSM's, hmm. I used to know some other cars that were more random and I never even realized they were boosted from the factory.

first - i'm a chick, thanks.

second - this is a well treated car. it's NEVER been mishandled. runs like a dream, has had the tires replaced once - when i bought it. same goes for the brakes - i changed the pads when i upgraded the rotors. other than that, aside from the usual road nicks, you can't tell this is a daily vehicle. i've been asked on MORE than one occasion if i actually drive it, because it looks and rides rather nicely. ASSumptions suck...don't make them.

third - boost doesn't equal reliability, most of the time. turbo vehicles, unless they're completely stock, like to break down a lot sooner than anything n/a.

Well guys (and gal Sorry Faln ). What can I say? You people are awesome. Thanks a ton for this huge list. Much appreciated.

And sorry Borsty, I usually agree 100% with your posts, but this time I'm going to have to disagree with you hehe. I have a friend who has a Bonnie that runs very high 12's to low 13's depending on the conditions, etc... He's been using that as his daily driver for almost two years now with no problems I don't think having or not having boost is going to automatically mean you can or can't use the car reliably and depend on it, to me, it's all about how well you maintain the vehicle.

so how much do you intend to dump in it for gas every week?

Re: Anyone help me with this list please?

That's still not really an issue Unless you go into boost, you will not be requiring extra fuel since the amount of oxygen in each cylinder will still be relatively low when compared to being under boost. So yeah, anyways....I'd estimate over 75% of my driving time is on the highway, even a turboed I4 in good condition should still be getting pretty decent mileage under those conditions.

Well, I've been looking around and not really found anything that suits me too much. I've been drooling over an 01 z24 (I know it's not what I originally wanted, but I love the peppiness of it), but for 75k on the odometer, they still want over 7k for the car. I doubt I'm going to get anything for a trade in of my current ride though so it looks like this and all other cars I've looked at aren't going to be feasible

Step 1: Wait 3 months
Step 2: Order Scion tC with TRD supercharger
Step 3: Enjoy perfect blend of boost and daily drivability

even tho your car is slow, my current one is slower
and i could use a better car if the price is right. Plus i love how the corolla looks with the trd lip kit.
