One of the results of General Motors' popular employee-style discounts is that the Chevrolet Silverado surged past the Ford F-150 in June by a wide margin and set a new monthly record for big pickup sales 109,359 units and is likely to do so again in July.
Ford had held the record for monthly full-size pickup truck sales since October 2001, when it sold 102,424 F-150 models during the auto industry's sales blitz. And the F-150 has been the nation's top-selling light vehicle for 28 consecutive years and is Ford's most profitable vehicle line.
However, for the year, the Silverado trails the F-150 pickup in sales by just 23,526 units, threatening the Ford truck's best-selling vehicle status.

It proves that "the truck" more truck customers want to drive is the Chevrolet. Now that it is more affordable to buyers sales surpassed those of the competition, not a huge surprise to me. They always wanted to drive a chev but maybe couldn't afford it, so they settled for the ford... Now that they can get into a chev they are and sales are reflecting it.

the fords are still cheaper than the GM trucks , i have a friend that got a fully loaded f150 lariat super crew short bed , for 23,000.00 , and that cheaper than what GM is charging for a similar truck
so my guess is ford will be out selling GM , again very soon
which sucks , ive always hated the fords , but for the money ida bought 1

^The 1997-2003 F150s that model got a "Poor" rating, because its cabin collapsed. Ford Tough?
Silverado got a "Marginal" rating on its current platform but the cabin held-up better than that F-series. Ya Ford can say "it is a safe pick-up" on the new current body, but that was not the case in 2003.
Also you have to think the Silverado is on its 7th season. I have no dought that the 2007 Silverado will get a "Acceptable" or even a "Good" rating.

its not that people like that truck better during sales.. its just people are cheap and GM always has the cash back option going on too.

All these people havent always wanted a chevy truck. Thats the most absurd thing ive ever heard. People are always looking for a deal and Chevy provided one. End of Story.

Do you know all these people who bought trucks? I made my statement after talking recently with the sales manager of our local dealership. His comment mentioned that with the deal customers were getting, that they have swayed some of the would be ford buyers.
I personally know more than half a dozen ford drivers who bought the Ford .. and not the Chevrolet only because of price. They liked the Chev better but couldn't justify paying the higher price. To me, that sounds like yes, they would rather drive a chev but went with the ford instead because it was cheaper.

All I know is that I would never own another Ford even if someone gave me one for free...my first two cars where POS Fords.
Moral of the story: I dont care how cheap the trucks are, I would never consider buying one...sorry but quality is much better than price.

Nicely said on that bottom sentence. But there are two Ford's I'd like to own.
1)The new GT90
2)The Saleen S7 (ford powered)
That's it.
I do like the style of the newer f150's over the previous generation by far.
