DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ford F-Series, the industry's undisputed truck leader, today adds yet another distinction to its long list of achievements: setting a new modern-day, any-month sales record for the industry with 126,905 trucks sold in July 2005.

This marks the most sales of any single nameplate in any month since the days of the Ford Model T. At that time, manufacturers reported production numbers, not monthly sales numbers, so a direct comparison with that era is not possible.

"F-Series now owns a piece of history that puts it in the same league as the legendary Model T," said Ford Division President Darryl Hazel. "Over the past 57 years, no vehicle has been more important to the success of Ford than F-Series -- and it just keeps getting stronger. It's earned its place in the fabric of America, outselling every other vehicle for 23 years running. In July, F-Series sales alone generated enough revenue to place the nameplate within the annual Fortune 500 rankings.

"Without a doubt, the overwhelming success of our Ford Family Plan and our innovative promotion with The Home Depot helped drive F-Series sales through the roof in July," said Hazel.

Contractors and do-it-yourselfers visiting The Home Depot stores this summer saw a powerful tool on display to help them get the job done -- a Ford F-Series. Ford's nationwide promotion with The Home Depot, America's largest home improvement center, gave Ford trucks a prominent presence at more than 1,600 The Home Depot stores nationwide and generated more than 200 million customer impressions from store traffic alone. The campaign ran through Aug. 1 at The Home Depot locations as well as in more than 3,800 Ford dealerships in the U.S.

The Ford F-Series, the best-selling truck in America for 28 consecutive years, just topped its own monthly record of 102,424 units sold in October 2001. Since its debut in 1948, Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F - News) has sold more than 28 million F-Series trucks around the world. F-Series annual sales volume tops what many companies achieve for their entire product lineup. Ford sells about one F-Series truck every 34 seconds in the U.S. In July, that pace quickened considerably to one F-Series truck every 21 seconds.

I didn't like the last generation f150's, but the new ones (like you have paul) are nice looking. I can see why.

Wait on GM's numbers which should be out today and should be posted later on today or tomorrow.
Seriously Ford was scrambling to sell trucks, Ford's Florida advertisement was knocking as much $7800 of the MSRP on base F-150s. Crazy.. and I thought GM's $5400 off the Silverado was a lot.
Both companies are out for that title, no matter how desperate it looks.

37mpg on the highway, its common knowledge ford has the worst average gas mileage of ANY major car manf. , that is pathetic and shows poor innovation and weak design on the part of thier company

Yeah, the new ones aren't bad LOOKING, but our work leased one this summer for an extra truck to get out to the fields. It wasn't a base model rental, it was a 4x4 XLT (I think....the one with 4 doors) and was just a little over 30 grand (the window sticker was in the glove box)
I wasn't too impressed with it considering it had a 4.6L V8....so friggin weak. Of course, being a rental, we ran the piss (or at least tried) out of it. Even the tilt wheel lever just randomly fell from below the column and you could just move the wheel up and down as you wished.
Regardless, it's good to see more customers considering and returning to the American car market.

Are you kidding me? OF COURSE they set a record! They were practically GIVING those damn things away! Believe me, when I saw the prices even I SERIOUSLY considered it. When I can get an F150 XLT SuperCrew for just a hair over $20k, something is wrong (or something is right, depending on how you look at it). I know it is being said that GM is losing a lot of money on this employee pricing schtick, but Ford is giving up the bank here. Its absolutely retarded when you can save TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS on a BRAND NEW truck!

Contgrats to Ford for giving up ALL profitability, just for market share.

Just because you are too cheap to drive a real vehicle, doesn't mean everyone is. Oh, and if the oil thing is really that big of a concern of yours, why are you driving a straight gas vehicle anyhow??? Shouldn't you have a hybrid or a smart car. There are several options out there now, go and get one. Or are you just all talk?

don't get me wrong I love my cavy but to all of you guys out their haten look at the statistics to be honest Id rather have an F 150 over a silverado . when I was doing construction I had a F150 and in 3 years ran almost 180k miles on it and it still ran like new.and to RODIMUS the day you run 37 mpg Ill hand you the keys to my neon and with your RMS supercharger not running right I dought that you are getting 20 mpg and what was it that your running at IRP at the bash 16 and 17. Im not trying to hate I think some people need to think be for they post. 37 mpg that was funny. O and the new F 150 ride like a car. yes 180k was correct driving all over the state and driving in Illinois, Ohio,Kentucky,Michigan,Georgia, the miles add up.

We all know even if the silverado alone doesn't beat the F-series the sierra will put it way over the top, they should be counted together anyways.. ford can include the mark LT in they're numbers if they want and gain a whole 15 to 20 more I don't mind.

Re: Ford F-Series Sets New Modern-Day Sales Record

*sigh* ONCE AGAIN, it's all a name game. The F-series includes everything up to the F-750, I believe, whereas the Silverado ends at 3500 series, or the same as the F-350. Count the production numbers of all fFord F-series trucks up to F-350 only and you'll get a fair comparison.

But don't get me wrong, the new F-150's are pretty nice for a truck. We've only had a few problms with hem, such as the beds rusting out, out of balance driveshafts, vibration concerns and warped brake rotors. Other than that, they'e not too bad.

No, that is indeed ALL of the F-series units combined. Look closely at any Ford ad touting it's truck sales, it never says "F-150, best selling pickup for 600 years straight," or whatever. It always says F-series, which is all F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-650, F-750, and if there are any more above that, then they're included. Hell, Ford will probably combine the new LCF coming out into those sales also.

I had a misfire at the bash (which is now resolved) and ran a 16 flat on 3 cylinders. The 37mpg figure is no lie, I ran precisely 180.0 miles on 4.789 gallons of gas when i was testing on the way too and from the bash. Thats the beauty of smart engineering.

btw learn how to spell "before", wouldnt want the keys to your neon, I get better power and gas mileage already thanks

Smart Engineering? Give your head a shake.

One, you do not get 37mpg with a misfire. You do not get 37mpg with 4 working cylinders, coasting downhill. Don't lie, no one here is dumb enough to believe you.

Two, you are driving a Cavalier, what "smart engineering" are you talking about? The Ecotec engine? WOW, a DOHC i4, never seen one of those before, you must have the first car EVER to have one of those.

Bottom line, cars are nice, but trucks are better all around vehicles. Period. I will never be without a truck.

the misfire is a random multiple at the top of 3rd, so only under load was it present

and the 37 mpg is not a lie, an msd ignition with a vortech produces good results for everyday driving

That depends on the use of the vehicle. If you're going to be regulary hauling large loads of gravel, lumber, ect, then yes, the truck would be a better vehicle. If you are going to be mostly commuting, and occasionally haul a couple of bags of feed, or a bunch of groceries, an El Camino, Scamp, Rampage, or VW pickup would be best suited, but since all car manufacturers got retarded and abandoned this segent, a mid-size car can usually pick up the slack.

Having a truck or SUV, just to project the image of "Hey, I have a truck, it makes me look like I have an active lifestyle, I 'm not worthless, dull, or weak now." is totally asinine and pointless. There is no need to put around in a behmoth that gets 10-15 MPG, just to pick up the kids, and again project that image.

If you have a truck and use it for it's original intended purpose, then good, credo's to you. If not, then congratulate yourself on being another excessive waste to the environment.

Why I drive a truck is a personal choice. I don't drive it every day. Well, not this time of year anyhow, but come winter I drive it pretty near every day, as my driveway is basically unaccessible unless you have 4wd.

As far as your "congratulate yourself on being another excessive waste to the environment.". That's just really a dumb thing to say. Unless you ride a bike, or walk to work every day (which you may, and if you do I will retract my comment) you are just as big a waste to the environment as me. As gas powered vehicle is a gas powered vehicle, and they are ALL bad for the environment. But, you know what, we have to drive what we have.

^^^If you dont use the v-8 power to tow, or the 4X4 to off road these trucks ARE a waste....now how many of those f-series last month do you think will acctually put to work? probably less then half

and why dont u belive his 37MPG.....i took an all highway trip to NC, 302 miles, and i used a hair over 7 gallons....43MPG out of my OHV 2.2L 5spd.... i couldnt imagine having something that got 12MPG

now dont get me wrong, my beater is a 91 f-150, so this is coming from an owner of this truck, the thing has a straight 6 with a 5spd trans and it gets HORRIBLE gas millage, therefore i try to not use it nearly as much as the cav....it has like a 140,000 miles on it and it's falling apart, i dont see the engine lasting much longer so i dont see what so great about them considering my friends 88 cavalier has 150XXX miles on it and it still runs great
