Race-ready Pontiac Solstice

If you see Pontiac Solstice roadsters on the road, you shouldn’t be surprised. Despite reports of possible delays to this fall, the first production cars rolled off the line the week of July 18, headed to dealerships about the time you’re reading this.
The company plans to race the car and is working on a lightweight model with a hardtop appropriate for amateur racing. If the project goes forward, a Solstice coupe could be sold to the public for about $1,500 to $1,800 less than the roadster. The base 2006 Solstice stickers at $19,995.
Lets just hope the weight saving is significant 100-300lbs as the solstice is roughly at 2800lbs.

True, but with its size, it should not weigh any more than 2500lbs. Hey if Mazda could do it, so can GM.

The Cav convertible only weighed that much. Base model coupes weighed in 2617lbs while LSS/Z24 were at 2700lbs.
So this little roadster weighs in more.

What this thing has got going for is its RWD, its short, suspension that looks like it was stolen from the Corvette and a close to 50/50 weight distribution.
I want to take one on the track and checksout it paces. Now I hope this "race-packages" fixes its weight problem.
Oh and a Vortec I-6 would be sweet too.
