ok i am going to get a new cobalt

of course i like to be different that is why i have a metallic green cavalier. because no one really has the color

i am thinking the rarest color is the sunburst orange would you guys tend to agree

other avalible colors are yellow red black and blue

i will also be getting the performance package with the limited slip and recaro seating, along with the extra airbags and sunroof

im going alllllll out mofo's

one more question does gm have any performance parts out for this thing yet
in particular i am looking for a smaller pulley and a reflash

Yeah yellow and orange are the ones I've seen the least.....

They should have made it in bright-ass white.

I think sunburst orange and silver are the rarest. I see alot of yellows. I personally don't like the orange, at all I think it's unattractive. I'd go silver. They look GREAT in person.

Wait till fall for GM upgade kit stage 1. But yes there are pulleys etc. Look into the GM Performance sport compact build book. You can find it HERE

well i will tell you the truth i think i am going to go with the orange because to me it is a very nice shade that will most likley hide any swirl marks that i will get

how much boost does a cobalt have?
how much can i safly add with out further mods?

I have the orenge on my 04 cav. and I love it. It hides dirt and dust very well useually
you cant even tell the car is dirty till you clean it then it shines. I've seen tons of yellow, red, and black cobalt ss but only one onenge and one silver. They both look great but i'd still stick with the orenge.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

Nice choice. Sunburst Orange Metallic is definitely going to be the rarest color, not to mention it looks awesome under the right light.

The Cobalt SS S/C pushes 12 PSI of boost stock. However, you won't see the full 12 until after the break-in period, as the PCM limits boost and has a lower rev limiter for the first few hundred miles.

Wel consider this: The stock 2.2 Ecotec in the base models experiences catastrophic connecting rod failure at 283 HP, regardless of boost pressure. The 2.0 Eco in the SS S/C is built for boost, with forged internals, extra cooling, oil-jet cooled pistons, and other beefed-up internals. A good guess is that the 2.0 S/C Eco will be able to handle at least 400HP, on stock internals

Hope that answers your questions.

How long is the break in period? And how do you limit the boost on a postive displace supercharger? It must be using the Electronic throttle system?

O noes!

That is a negative. ^
"RKSport2003" can confirm that aswell.

Agreed 100% You won't notice a "boost" in performance after a certain mileage. Im not denying that after the parts are seeted that the motor will run more effeciently, but you won't notice the difference.

I've installed an exhaust and filter system, and although I've it sounds ALOT better, I can't "feel" the difference yet. That's when a reflash etc. etc comes into play, THEN you will feel the difference.

Car gets lowered on eibachs in 7 hrs. 9 am sharp.

How can the PCM limit boost then, as said by the man above me?

O noes!

Like RKsport2003 and I said it is a negative on what the kid above you said. There is no limit on boost in any mileage. You will always get 12psi max. Give or take on the altitudes you are at +/- maybe 1-2 psi as you know.

electronic throttle sucks

but yeah engine just need some miles to loosen up cant really adjust the boost unless there was a wastegate type thing controlled by the pcm

i test drove 1 with 6 miles on it , and it hit 11.5 psi according to the gauge , and it hit redline right about the 6450 mark on the tach

so that is bunch of miss information out there

i can kinda believe the rpm deal because the motor hits the revlimiter , in some cases before the tach shows it being at redline , cause the rpm climbs faster than the tach can respond

I got Sunburst Orange on my 04 Cav. There's only 3 in this city (Winipeg Manitoba) identacle to mine, but there's quite a few sedans and base Cavs and Cobalts out there in orange. I still get tons of comments about it, and only one person I know who doesn't like it. But it does seem to show scratches easily, plus people like to key my car up for some reason.

In conclusion silver is way too common, I don't like yellow, so go with orange or black. I think.

that 283 mark was just strait nitrous.. and a dry system at that... boost isnt nearly as destructive as that explosion that nitrous makes. and a supercharger doesnt flow as many cfms as a turbo. well the m62 doesnt. and if u download the new GM ecotec performence book, they dont recomend the 2.0 rods for more then 300hp. eagle makes a good set rated at 550 i believe.

didnt the gm prototype SC eco get around like 272hp at 16psi on that m62 with the reflash? i know the 2.0SC rods are stronger then the standard 2.2 ecotec, but its not THAT much of a difference.
