hey everyone, at Weed Chevrolet the dealership i work at, we just got in a orange SS.
I was confused as to why it had crome wheels and a regular 2 door coupe spoiler, after seeing a gm badge on the fender where an Supercharged emblum should have been i realized the car may be a 2.4 SS.
Turns out it was! gm finally put out the 2.4 VVT Motor. It runs pretty good, sounds just like the 2.2, more power than the 2.2 same gear ratios as far as i could tell, nice sucking sound at high rps and a noticable pull after 4,900.
It is not as fast as my modded 02 ls sport, and my 2.0 S\C would smoke the hell out of it. but all and all its a nice car for someone wanting more power than the 2.2 and cant offord the supercharged SS or cannot drive stick.

btw we all were under the impression the 2.4 only came in auto, well... the window sticker lists the auto as being and option and manual as standard. good stuff

Its not BS its in the Cobalt SS (None-S/C) Models.

i work at weed chevy in bristol pa and i just @!#$ drove it!
it looks like a regular SS supercharged, however its avaliable in auto and has different wheels and wing.
if im calling bull @!#$ come to my @!#$ job and if its really here than buy it from me, along with a 7 year warranty, gap insurance, and "the protector" paint gaurd. AND if im lying ill let you take my 17 psi redline out for an hour and beat the piss out of it.
what do you think?

well if you got a 2.4 ss in at your dealer the solstice shouldnt be to far behind then
cause the 2.4 wasnt susposed to be out before the solstice was
get some pics of the car is you can ?? any news on the SS 2.4 sedans ??

actually i saw a solstice here in ct last week i almost hit the car in front of me because i was in shock that it was out on the road. it was red too.

I've already seen an 06 Eclipse when i was in Baltimore over the weekend. nice looking car, but they want waaaaaay too much money.
But after reading about the Cobalt all over here, i distinctly remember the 2.4Eco wouldnt debut until AFTER the Pontiac Solstice came out. So i take back my BS flag, but i still WANT PICS. c'mon, if its new... then its unexpected. Get us some spy pics!
wait till there is a supercharger kit for that 2.4 more displacement

i confirmed it IS a 2.4 non supercharged...
the only explanation i can see is they're releasing them early. i've seen QUITE a few brand new 06 Cobalts come through as a PDI(what they do with brand new vehicles before they're for sale).

That is correct, the Cobalt SS (non s/c) will only be available with an auto.

for 1/4 mile racing a auto trans is more consistant , you dont get any wheel hop because you can preload the suspension
also i thought some one had pointed out that GM was actually gonna have a 5spd option for the SS 2.4 cobalts ??
ill have to check the sale brouchre when i get home
I have been waiting to see an SS S/C for a while now, the other day I saw the car carrier on it's way to the dealership and spotted an SS. I was working so I had to wait till after work to check it out. I get to the dealer and notice the wheels are chrome but figure it's an option. I look inside It was a 5 spd( I might could be wrong but I am 99.9% sure it was a stick., then I notice that the seats are cloth
I look at the sticker and see it's the 2.4 V V T. The GM badge on the fender isn't as bad as I thought it would be it's pretty small.This was in Petrolia a small town in S W Ontario. I am still waiting for the SS S/C.

when was this "pointed out"? i said i got it from the sales manager...who got it from the regional manager( i made the man call him to verify, since i knew there would be naysayers). they both confirmed that this would be auto only.

I saw a Solstice in Michigan last month. I couldn't believe it! All I can say is nice lookin car.
