I like the end when the guy says the gearbox from the viper feels like it came out of a truck, and that there's not one thing he likes about the car, even called it garbage!
VETTE VS VIPER
Hahaha, damn that dude just dogged the Viper.. He didnt like it at all.. That was a damn good video.ha

yeah he flamed it cause it was too much car for him... lol
they should have compared the Z06 to the SRT10..
actually the viper has a rough ride
cheap build
read the comparo in the vette mag
i mean of course they will dog it but they have thier good points
its like the cobra roadster of old
sure its fast but its not very controllable
EastCoastBeast II wrote:they should have compared the Z06 to the SRT10..
so the viper could be slower and they can say they wouldnt recommend it?
yea, something like that..
Corvette OWNES Viper, that's all I have to say today.
The best all around sports car in the world FOR THE MONEY. Bar none.

"for the money"?
come on now....
the echo hatch is THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD
....for the money...
really...
bar none.

Exactly what I said.
If you are lucky enough to afford a sporstcar 50 K and above the Corvette is the best all around for the money. This video is proof that the Viper is not worth 30, 000 more than the vette, it's insane how overpriced the viper is.
Corvette continues to dominate on the racetrack and in the salesroom.
i would like to see the viper vs the zo6
see ya!

but the corvette is a horrible car other than a great engine.
the interior is junk (although compared to other american junk interiors it is "okay")
the steering has no feel at all... NONE!
the transmission feels like a 5 ton truck
the suspension provides lots of grip on a smooth road/track... but throw in a pebble or 2 and it feels like an 85 cavalier
after 2500km it also sounds like an 85 cavalier with the amount of interior creaks and groans.
it does sound nice and accellerate nicely though... but if those are your only requirements for it to be a "sports car" then you could do that with just about ANY car for a lot less than 50g's
now you claim it to be the best sports car in the world for the money.
lotus exige/elise
tvr sagaris/tvr t350
bmw m3/m3 csl
jsut a few cars that do a far better job at being "sports cars" than the vette in the over 50g range.

Take any of those three above and the C6 place them on a famous track like lemans, road atlanta, nuburgring, etc. with pro drivers and the C6 vette will cross the line first.
Look at all the race results, Corvettes DOMINTATE. And yes they are racecars but the chassis' are the same. For you to say the corvette steering has no feel, and that they can't handle except on perfect surfaces you've obviously never driven one. The new traction control systems on the newer Vettes is suburb.
I will give you the nod in interior materials, their are better quality out there, but the "squeeks" and rattles your refer to are BS. Solid and refined are the two words to describe the vette build quality.
Handling, looks, speed, refinement, daily useability all point in the C6's favor.
The lotus elise will handle great but won't have the power to match the overall lap time of a corvette without power upgrades.
Again overall out of the box for 50k even the Vette is the best OVERALL for the money. It's not the best at all categories by no means, but overall yes it is.
** Congrats to GM and Covette Racing for finishing first and second at Lemans this year again!** (ferrari, viper, saleen s7, etc, keep trying!!
)
actually the tvr's will be faster, better handling and better power to weight, on the nurburgring the m3 csl is faster,.... but then again lap times do not determine a sports car. that great video of a stock motorsport elise (street legal with 190hp) was more than fast enough to chase down and murder a c5 on the ring.
a sports car is a car that a "driver" will enjoy, that offers superb feedback and makes the driving experience enjoyable.
i have not driven the c6 but i have been in a few, and yes they creak and rattle. not at first, but after a few miles the owner was dissapointed.
on bumpoy surfaces the vette does not handle well. it is not compliant enough to soak up bumps while driving hard. it gets very choppy and because the steering doesnt offer any feedback, all you can feel is the pump, you cant really tell what the front tires are doing.
honestly i dont think you know what steering feel means.
again though dont bring in lap times and race victories to determine what a sports car is... they are 2 different things. race teams budgets determine who wins, sure the platform has to be half decent, but in the end money wins.
anyways dont compare cars by money. chevy chose to use the 911 as a benchmark, and even though lutz (?) thinks it kicks its ass.. noone else who has driven both agrees.
all the vette has going for it is a kickass engine.
but everything else exudes 1980's sports car.
cliffs: power is good for the money
interior is good for a $12,000 car
fit and finish is good for a $20,000 car
suspension is great on a nice smooth road, but throw cambers, frost heaves and bumps and it feels like an 88 trans-am with a lot of tire.

1) You admit to never driving one. But you say on cambers it "FEELS" like an 88 trans am with a lot of tire huh? hmmm....ok.
2) The TVR you can't even barely find here let alone at a near 50k price tag after importing.
3) You say the M3 is faster at Nuburgring, do I need to remind you what car's chassis just set the COURSE RECORD of any car there. Oh yeah it was a C6 chassis.
4) Again I'll give you the interior material nod, that still could be better although it is improved over the C5.
5) The motorsports elise is for basically track use only. The vette has a pretty spacious trunk for a two seater, the safety features and superb traction control system, and overall comfort for daily driving point in the vettes favor.
6) I never said the Corvette was the best sportscar in the world, I just said it was the most well rounded performer for around 50k. What does everyone else think?

got a link to the video of the elise? I've always liked those cars and would like to see it in action
"7:50 --- 157.787 km/h -- BMW E46 M3 CSL (sport auto 08/2003)
7:59* -- 154.822 km/h – Chevrolet C6 Z51, company test driver Dave Hill (*mfr.)"
looks like the c6 is in fact slower....
the c6 zo6 just went 7:42... but nowhere near the overall record... lol where do you do your reasearch? chevyrulesall.com? or did the manthey racing porsche gt3 somehow have a c6 chassis? (thats for production based cars.. if you want production it would be the carrera gt.
but yes its fast...
no i dont have to have driven one to get feedback from an owner, or to read magazine articles from performance based magazines that ALL complain about the same thing the owner thinks.
the tvr is hard to find in the US? the US is "the whole world?" you said "best sports car in the world"... for the money. i say take money out of the equation because money is only used as a qualifier when shopping for basic transportation.
the motorsport elise was just a precursor to the exige (hardtop elise), and are used as daily drivers by alot of owners. but then again we are not arguing about which car is the best to go shopping with. who cares how big the trunk is? we are talking about sports cars... compromises must be made.
a great sports car rewards the driver with great overall feel, passion, feedback, at the limit handling (whether those limits are high or low), good balance, great brakes.... notice i didnt say anything about power? you have got me quoting lap times.. but really those dont determine what a great sports car is.
the c6 is a great american car.
but unfortunatley there are much better sports cars out there. ...

the M3 CSL is not a normal M3. it is a serious car. the c6 is for old men anyway. now the z06 is tuned allot better suspension/alignment wise. i am thinking about a zo6 but i will have to be used. well used. and i will have to drive a beater to work with no AC.
see ya!
^^^huh?
i guess you didnt read properly then.

i named 6 cars there.
1 is the csl, 1 is the m3. is it that difficult to understand?
the c6 z06 is not out yet, the times on the ring are from a pre-production test mule.
can you tell me how they made the suspension "allot better"? in the c6 z06 i'm interested to know exactly what they did to completely change the way the c6 handles bumpy /cambered roads. or did they just go and make it stiffer.
