Was I seeing this car wrong or do they make it?

ok it is good to know that i am not crazy.... i really liked how it looked
its not supposed to be out yet but i guess anything is possible. they are supposed to have the 2.4 eco in them not the 2.2 or blown 2.0. there is also a 2.4 2 door supposed to be out too it has an automatic option so you dont have to get in 5spd only.
i haven't seen either one in person yet but people on here claim they have seen them around.

I read today that the 06 ss cobalts are not going to have the gm employee discounts,gee seems that could offer at least one reason to buy it,when I can go buy a better car for less money .For 22 or what ever they sell them for I can buy a accord ,which in fact I did last year or really it was 20,855 OUT THE DOOR!! loaded ex,its a 4cyld but regardless a well made car.

Sweet Jesus!!! Anyone happen to see the sticker on it? I went to Chevy's site, but there's no mention of pricing. IF I can find one in my area, and the pricing's right, I may just have to trade the Elantra in after all!!!!

Edmunds.com, Yahoo! Autos and MSN Autos list the starting price for the 2.4L Chevrolet Cobalt SS (coupe and sedan) at $18,200, which includes the standard 5 speed. Is there any word if an optional SS-specific 5 speed manual will be offered for the 2.4L the same way they offer one on the 2.0L?
Also I talked with a salesmen about the 06 Cobalts because I assumed they would have some brochures since Chevrolet is already listen rebates and incentives for the 06s. The salesmen I talk to (who is more knowledgable than most salesmen I talked to) stated they is a national delay to SS 2.4L models. Is there any truth in that? I'm assuming he's meaning that won't be available later this summer like Chevrolet advertises but I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.
I saw an SS sedan a while ago at the dealership. But it didn't even have leather seats. So I don't get what it makes it an SS rather than an LT.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.... but wasn't the ORIGINAL plan for the Cobalt exactly this...
Cobalt SS S/C coupe only (2.0L supercharged)
Cobalt SS (non S/C) sedan only (2.4L Eco)
This model doesn't come as a surprise to me... I knew it was coming all along.. but the delay on the 2.4L Eco with VVT meant the model was dropped from the original 05 lineup...

Maybe GM changed their mind about that plan and took the 2dr SS S/C a bit more serious to make a good debut. Because they know that there's more people out there that likes 2dr instead of a 4dr. But I would defenitly want to see a vert. version of the cobalt. And not just a cobalt, I want it to be a SS S/C.

I don't know if I quite understand what you're saying, but Chevy will have 8 different Cobalt models in 2006. They are as follows:
Cobalt Coupe LS (base)
Cobalt Coupe LT
Cobalt Coupe SS
Cobalt Coupe SCSS
Cobalt Sedan LS (base)
Cobalt Sedan LT
Cobalt Sedan LTZ
Cobalt Sedan SS
The Cobalt Sedan LTZ is going to take the place of the now current Cobalt LT. It will have the standard 2.2L Ecotec motor in it. Leather seats, etc.
The Cobalt Sedan SS will have the infamous 2.4L Ecotec in it, "sport cloth" seats, etc.
woot 2005 is the only year for my car, since they are dropping this years base and making this years ls as the base next year, maybe it will be worth money lol

I thought the 2.4L was only to be for the SS sedan. However, I'm really glad they offered it on the coupe because I would rather have the 2.4L SS rather than the 2.0L SS Supercharged. I knew about the delay to the 2.4L SS Cobalt because I think they wanted the engine to debut in a different vehicle (Solstice, maybe?) but I'm just wondering if there is another delay to the Cobalt 2.4L SS that I wasn't aware of. The salesman showed me a pricing chart apparently from GM, which had a "DLY" or delay in the pricing chart. Funny thing is that the dealership I went to are already taken orders for all 2006 Cobalts with the exception of the SS 2.4L, so I am curious.
I was trying to say... the original line-up of the Cobalt (aside from the non-SS models) was always "SS S/C coupe and SS (not S/C) sedan". So this SS sedan doesn't surprise me one bit.
I do find it surprising... that a whole wack of y'all want this 2.4L Ecotec motor... even though it's unproven.. You haven't even driven it!! And already people are dreaming of motor swaps into third gen J's. No replacement for displacement still... sigh....

Hehe...for me Mr. Lenko, it would merely be a gas issue. I don't want to spend an additional 30 - 50 cents per gallon because the SS Supercharged for the most part requires premium fuel. Driving over 400 miles weekly can get expensive after a while. If I can get a little bit more power than the base model and still for the most part relay on good ol' fashion, regular, unleaded fuel, then I'm happy. Engine swaps and displacements are the farthest thing from this kid's head.
so let me get this straight.....there will be a ss coupe with the 2.4L eco and avaliable in a manual?
if thats the case i might try and take one out when they hit the dealerships, if im impressed i might go with one over a ss s/c
