Well today i made a deal with the guy who works next to me, im gunna buy his old ass 4 door escort for 200 bucks. You see his g/f has been driving it for 2 years, and today he bought her a taurus since its bigger... so he said i can have his good condition escort for 200 bux!
Ok now im sure you guys hate me, yes its an auto, yes its a 1.9l pushrod POS, and YES ITS CHEAP.
I figure about 100 dollars a month for liability.
So heres the plan, im buying his car and parking it till my car sells (11,000 asking price) Then im driving the escort until i go through the 3 day motorcycle class hosted by montgomery college for 120.00, then getting my license.
Then im going to JT motorsports in frederick and financing a Suzuki GSXR750 (Yellow and black of corse)
I figure around 150 for the payments, 150 for insurance = 300 for the bike, and 100 for the escort.
Total, 400 bux. AND i have 2 EXTREMELY gas efficient vehicles.
Ive always wanted a bike, been riding since i was 12 and today when i got offered a perfectly decent daily driver/beater for 200 bux i made a new plan.

BTW, my car alone is costing me around 600-700 a month not including gas.

Do you have a terrible driving record?
I only pay $80 a month for full coverage on my '04 GTO. I have only liability on my '88 Toyota pickup, and that is like $30 a month lol.

if you get a brand new bike and cant afford to pay it off and have to finance the bike, your insurance is gonna be very high
Insurance is high because im 19... Anywho i just got quotes for insurance
The escort will run me 900 every 6 months liability,
and a 2004 GSXR 750 with full coverage will run me 1,076 a YEAR.
So my total will be 250 a month for insurance costs, and i figure 150 for the bike payment, so my total is 400.. still 300 less than my 700/month costs right now. Im psyched.

hold on here. 900 every 6months???!?!?!?!?! or 12 Months? that is insanely high.
I had a 300 dollar 93 Hyundai beater, and it ran me ~ $200 per YEAR for liability. Who did you get insurance quotes from?
2004 WR Blue/silver STi

damn
why so much???
you could have bought a damn nice car w/ that kind of payment
"Good Lord that's alot of money!"
I don't believe the bike insurance quote. How is it possible that you're getting insurance for a commonly stolen and wrecked cycle for less than a crap car? They must have forgotten something about it or its for 6 months. Especially at 19, I'm sure you just got/don't even have a cycle license yet. BTW I'm just pissed because I'm paying 209 a month on a kawi 05 zx6r.

prob cause he told them the bike is the 2nd vehicle , the second vehicle is always cheaper
but having a loan it it might change that , since they have to be fully covered
no second vehicle lowers the insurance premium as a whole, not just on one car. The escort is an old ass car and it should be no more than 100 a month for insurance. Maybe should be 100 for 6 months. It's either you have a bad ass driving record or you got screwed by the insurance company. If you have very good driving record, try and go with AAA, your old escort might need road side assistend and towing sometimes.
it would be 650 for 6 months with my @!#$box when i get my own insurance in a couple months, and i have an at fault accident from last october (luckily i do believe ALL my tickets are 3 years old or older now so that helps) 900 every 6 months for a car thats paid for seems high, do you have collision on it? i certainly dont (i wouldnt give a @!#$ if it was hit lol)
Ok, i called back state farm to make sure the bike quote was correct and....
It WAS! I have state farm insurance (obviously) And she said its so cheap for the bike because in order for state farm to insure a motorcycle you MUST have a car insured with them as well. So the car insurance is high but the motorcycle is insanely low because they dont insure just anyone who walks in the door and asks for it.
I decided on a 05 ZX6R BTW, went and priced one yesterday, 199/month for payments... and my insurance will be BELOW 1000 a year because i was quoted 1,000/year on a 750. And yes that was FULL COVERAGE.
So my total monthly payments for the car and bike will be roughly 450.... so im saving about 200 dollars.

Your plan doesnt seem very logical to me. Whats going to happen when the old ass escort breaks down. It's old, it's going to have problems. I would think a reliable car would be more important than a bike. You can get a bike thats a few years old dirt cheap.
i wish it worked liekt hat here! id have a bike for sure! but my car insureance is high enough, and a bike ontop of that woudl be rediculous!

A while ago I got an insurance quote through progressive for me to insure a Hayabusa with full coverage, just for @!#$s and giggles. It was $4000 every 6 months. I was I think 18 or 19 at the time, and had one at fault accident under my belt. Plus, progressive sucks balls.
But yeah I'd have to agree your little plan is a bit flawed. MD is Maryland right? Dude, don't you have winter there?? You're going to be able to drive your bike like 4 months a year. My brother is a full time motorcyclist and he only got away with it because we lived in FL, and then I still had to pick his ass up from work all the time because it rained and he forgot his rainsuit or whatever. Then there was that time he tried to drive 300 miles in december, and it rained on the way up. He had a full motorcycle suit on, and made it there but was almost in hypothermia by the time he got there. It was around 40 degrees out but his "water resistant" suit was completely saturated and highway speeds will give you a windchill of like -30.
