I have a chance to buy a 1995 BMW E36 M series BMW. Blue
Dinan Stage 3 chip ($399*)
Dinan carbon fiber Cold-Air Intake with K&N filter ($449*
Dinan Euro/big-bore Air Meter
Dinan high pressure Fuel Pressure Regulator (from Stage 2 chip kit, $449*)
Dinan air meter + cold air intake install kit ($229*)
Brembo, Cadmium-plated (so they won’t rust), X-drilled rotors ($800**)
83k
for 14 grand
Figured i could sell one of the trucks. How fast are these things stock? I have heard low 13's. Are they reliable? Is that a good price?
i dont think low 13's stock(not sure but the new m3s arent), but w/ those mods it should be close
The E46 M3 should easily be putting up solid low to mid 13's stock with a good driver, no problems.
The E36 M3 stock, should be low to mid 14's, again with a good driver. It might be able to pull of a high 13, but i suspect this wouldn't be on stock tires and you would have to hit everything from launch to shifts perfectly. However in most real world situations, expect them to be in the 14's and under 6 to 60.
Sounds interesting. Its hard to put a feel to the offer without seeing the vehicle. Things to watch out for would certainly be if the car was tracked. I might be a little worried about the mods done to it, how long, how much more power than stock, etc. Lets also not forget its a 10 year old car now, keep an eye out for normal wear and tear items. Insurance on it will probably be right up there. I know the E46 is up there as one of the most expensive cars to insure.
yeah starting to reconsider this....500 a month for full coverage jesus a brand new truck cost me less than half that...

Get an S4 over an M series...thats a joke and a half. You cannot be serious....
So much better that when the turbos fail, which they WILL, the whole engine needs to be pulled to replace them. Talk about waste of money. The turbos in those cars were put in a horrible spot where they cannot take the abuse they will be given. Piss poor application.
If you own an S4, or any Audi for that matter, out of warrenty, i feel bad for you. You'll most likely know your service manager by first name. Replacing those turbos...you don't want to know how much it will cost....lets just say its extremely labor intensive.
Don't get me wrong, the S4 is a very capable car, but reliability and wear and tear certainly would go to an M series.
ehh
thats why i have an american v8
but still have to respect the bimmers and benzes
well some of them anyway
