Advice needed

Parents are thinking about trading in my mom's RSX for a TL. They might be willing to trade in my cavy and give me the rsx. My cav is an 04 ls sport, stick, bm shifter, system... 22000 miles. The RSX is an 02 stock model, automatic, 45000 miles... bone stock. What would you do?

I definitely wouldn't do that if I were you, for a couple of reasons.

You'll regret going from a 5-speed to an auto. Not only is it less fun to drive, but RSX's suck with the automatics, since they are peaky engines. Autos are good for engines that have lots of torque (like diesels) but don't handle high RPM's very well.

If it was an Acura RSX Type-S that would be different, but the regular 160HP RSX isn't going to be much (if at all) faster than your 5-speed Cav with mods. Not to mention the RSX has over double the miles of your car, which kind of like downgrading.

Good luck with whatever decision you make, but personally, I would stick with what you have

i say go for the ESX. MUch nicer car overall, will last twice as long as the cavalier

i doubt that it will
but its already got twice the mileage so it really negates that fact that if it will last twice as long

anyway
id stick w/ the cav

I'd say do the RSX. Neither are really that fast, so you'd probably want to stick with making a show car. Plus the Acura is a little bit more of a status symbol, MUCH more reliable, and definately has better resale value.

rsx > cavalier
no ifs ands or buts about it
the only thing that you should be considering in this decision is if you want an auto or stick
thats about it
if you dont mind the auto get the rsx
otherwise keep the cav

Hi guys, thx for the input. My old man and I went to the Acura dealership tonite and drove the TL. Man is it a nice ride... my mom will like havinig 270hp at her toes. I found out that the Acura only has like 28000 miles, barely more than what I have on the cavy.. I don't really mod my car performance-wise, I don't race anyone, and my girlfriend of 3 years (whom I live with) can't drive a stick. I think I will probably take the opportunity if given. It'll be sad to see my 2nd cavy go bye bye... especially after such a short time.

Get rid of the Cavi while you can. The resale blows. I would rather have a Type-S, but would take a RSX over a Cav anyday. IMO.

Well, obviously now its moot, but I dont think even h aving double th emiles makes a difference in this case. If the acura had 100k and the Cav had 50, i could see your point, But with the rSX only having 40K (Now 28 K ) that thing would probably last till 150-200K minimum, where at the cavy would make it to 100K maybe

I'm guessing that this car is for daily driving/commuting purposes, since you have the 350Z for fun times.

Let's think about this, you have an opportunity to upgrade your daily driver to a car with more features, better reliability, more power, more comfort and higher resale value? I think I'd take the RSX.

dont you have a 350z? if so who cares about getting rid of the cavi.

Don't trade... Once you drive stick, nothing else will be as fun, HANDS DOWN....

get the RSX. If anything one day you will want something else and an RSX is a much better trade in than a POS Cavalier.

YEAH I WENT PREMIUM. SO BITE ME!

you could sell the rsx for twice as much as the cav at this point. should be a no brainer. you also get honda reliability and longevity
