Hello. Long time since I posted here. Now it's from the other side of the globe, with a different car. I just bought a 2000 Holden Commodore VT Series 2 wagon. It has a 3.8L V6, cruise control, cd/cassette, dual airbags, engine immobiliser. I got it with 100,000kms on it.
Here's a pic. Post more soon with more info and plans for the car.
sweet
i almost have a holden manaro
- some goodies
and - the 40K american price tag
Almost everything (front bar, skirts, headlights, grille, wheels, brakes, shifter, door handles, seats, etc etc etc) from the Monaro bolts straight on to my car.
There's a hint to the plans I have for the car
More to come.
It's a Saturn LS wagon....or rather they share a platform, basically the same car. looks good but the front end looks forced on. something about it doesn't look right.

The VT Commodore, released in 1997, was similarly based on the Omega (GM2800) platform, and saw a coupe version, the Monaro, which resurrected a famous Holden brand name from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as a four-wheel-drive version of the Commodore wagon, the Adventra. A long-wheelbase, four-door ute called the Crewman is also available, including a four-wheel-drive variant, the Cross8 (named after an earlier show car that resembled the production model closely).

The Saturn L-series is a line of automobiles sold by General Motors' Saturn marque based on the GM2900 Platform.
The L-series sedans and wagons were introduced in 2000. They are based on the Opel Vectra B and are manufactured at a GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware. These models are available with four- and six-cylinder engines.
Poor sales of the L-series have caused GM to cancel the line for 2005. The first L-series car was built in May of 1999, and the last one rolled off the Wilmington line on June 17, 2004. About 406,300 L-series cars were built in this period.
The replacement for the L-series is expected in summer of 2006. It will be based on the Saturn Aura concept car shown at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show and will likely use the GM Epsilon platform shared by the next-generation Vectra, Saab 9-3, and Chevrolet Malibu.
Holden = GM2800 (Omega) Platform = RWD/AWD platform setup
Saturn = GM2900 Platform = FWD Platform Setup
Not based on the same chassis. The GM2900 platform was/will be replaced with the Epsilon Chassis.
The GM2800 (Omega) is still being produced.
The Saturn LS' Holden sister would be the Holden (Opel) Vectra.
Commadore > Saturn LS
Yeah, Commodores are much bigger than the LS wagon. Yes, there is a 5.7L LS1 available. The neat thing about cars here, or at least the Commodore, is that you can choose any body type, with any engine option, and any trim level you want. And there's a huge range of performance options and body kits available through HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) and HBD (Holden By Design).
Bit busy at the moment. More soon.
k, got pics uploaded. Plans for the car? Get front and rear lips, mirrors, door moldings, and skirts painted up (at my cousins shop, cost? a few beers), new Monaro front bar, Monaro grille, and Monaro projector headlights, window tint, Pioneer DEH-6750MP head unit & iPod adapter, 10" sub, amp, lower it, VY SS 18" wheels, already has a factory cold air intake, headers, exhaust, chip. And that's about it!
Here's the pics:
