Does anyone own, or know someone who owns, a Honda S2000? They have been around for a few years now and a used one can be picked up at a reasonable price. Do you think they would make a reasonable daily driver? I don't really care about the lack of luggage space.

I dont know anyone personally but i have read alot on the S2000 forums reguarding this. Most people who own them use them as daily drivers...but...you gotta be willing to live with a small vehicle that cant really carry anything more than 2 people and a lunch box. They are by no mean spacious. Im not a big guy but i wasnt comfortable enough to wanna drive one on anything more than an couple hours at a time. Fun as hell though! i was looknig at one to replace my prelude but i dont want anything smaller than what i have now.

you can get an 04 gto for a good price

thats about all

My buddy did that. They look nice on the outside but when we took it out for a test drive, both of us felt very claustophobic (sp?) inside the cockpit. I do see a good bit of people driving them around a lot more lately.
Have a good one,
Justin
One of my friends has one... She was always talking about how much it sucked in the snow, getting stuck everywhere.

It would be fun for a top-down summer car
. But that's about it.

as said before it is tiny inside...but it was built as a higher end honda, which means it comes with tighter suspension and high performance tires...so depending on where you drive it may be feasible...any snow or horrible roads might make it a pain though...getting up driveways isnt the easiest of tasks if youre not used to lowered cars.
but its all up to your personal preference...as stated earlier, can you live with it being so tiny inside? can you live with it not being very practical (as far as trunk space, interior space, # of passengers, etc.)? can you live with the insurance? if so, then hell yea, if the weather is always nice where you live and the roads are good, then a double hell yea, but if not....eh, what exactly are you willing to live with?
it is a blast to drive and be a passenger in the twisties or hitting 9k rpm, but on a long haul across the state or on a trip the race seats (which i use the term loosely) starts to get uncomfortable...
should be more of a weekend warrior IMO
I certainly wouldn't consider it a good daily driver. The lack of torque hurts it really in that aspect. You are better off looking at something which makes more usable power over the whole RPM range, not just up top.
While it might be drivable in the snow with dedicated snows, it is by no means somehting i would want to have to take out in that weather.
Thats not to say its not a nice car, it definetly has its great points, but it is much better as a weekend car.
looks good...but not a daily driver...unless u live in like Florida
It is very small inside. And the snow...dont even bother. It is kinda quick though 14.1 quarter mile time...and iv seen people hit high 13s stock.
what kind of price are you giong to get one one?
MY00 will still be priced around high teens / low 20's. They hold their value pretty descently. Anything with a low mileage is going to be more as well.

why the hell wouldnt he?
faster than a S2000 nice interior w/ lots o room seats 4 anyway
I know he didnt ask thats why i posted again, we dont have an edit button, and I realized I was a lil off topic
so calm down
damn
I've heard nothign but complaints. I know a few people who have them. And everyone says the same thing. Theyre so much fun to drive at the start, but once the novolty wears off theyre more of a pain then a pleasure. The center consol gets hot, really hot, and toy can feel the engine. After all it is jsut a high revving 4 cylinder.
I think theyre gorgous cars, but I don't think Id reccommend one as a daily driver

Thanks for the input guys. I live in New England which has all kinds of snow. The s2000 looks great and all, but it might not be a sensible move. I am thinking an RSX, celica gts, would be a best of both worlds choice.

why in the hell would you drive any RWD sports car in the snow
If you cant afford a winter car then you dont get a sports car, you get something you can drive year round.

Trust me, living in NH you do not want to drive that car in the snow. Bad idea.
What is your budget? How about a WRX or 2.5 RS. Subies plow through the snow very nicely, can't beat the AWD. RSX is a nice car as well though, just not as good in the snow, but makes up for it with the interior.
Like somebody said, the S2000 wouldnt be a good daily driver unless you live in Flordia. If you are asking my opinion as a good daily driver but still had some kick to it. The SVT Contour (sp). They have a very nice interior, manual, lots of room, 4 doors, and power under the hood.

again, what are you looking to spend?
hey guys,
I am lookin to spend < 23k and posssibly -completly in cash. I think this opens up a lot of options. I want a car that is head over heels better then my 2.2 sunfire, something thats a blast to drive, excellent to look at and deccent on gas (25 mpg city or better). Know any cars that fit that bill?

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day

Your Sunfire is closer to a perfect daily driver. Cheap to insure and maintain, park it anywhere without worrying about it. Drive it in the rain and winter.
Keep the Sunfire, even if it means spending less money on another car. Nice cars were not meant to be daily drivers.

You could buy a really nice classic Corvette for that kind of dough. And it may actually go up in value over time. You don't necessarily have to buy a 'Vette, but I would think along those lines. Don't buy a late model car that will be yesterdays news in a few years and worth squat.
