I saw the ad tonight on television, they look pretty nice, what does everyone think?

they are big I saw one in person and can say that they are not that great to loko at. Alot bigger than I thought too. more mid size now.

Well they are suprisingly quick for a car that weighs as much as it does. All of the tests have the new Eclipse pulling 14.4-5 in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in 5.8-6.0 seconds. That said you can get a faster car for what it costs.

Honestly there alot better in person then I thought they would be. Drop and wheels (plus any color besides the orange they always show) and they will look better then most other cars. My time was very short in one recently but the power was smooth and the ride was great. Obviously it more of a cruiser then a bonafide race car but it should compete nicely with the mustang gt's and 350z speedwise (even though its fwd).Its 1/4 mile trap speed was insane If I remeber right. The powers there.
they are overpiced
it can compete w/ a mustang but its base is just as high as a gt premium, add some options and you are at gto price teritory
and imo they don't look that good in person

I'm not impressed at all.
First, there has already been a major recall on them. Something about the brake booster or such, which can leave it with no brakes....leave it to Mitsu to F something up.
Its heavy, horrible weight distribution, and if you think about it, only 263 horses out of a 3.8L is not that impressive. Not to mention i bet it will be a gas hog.
Torque steer is going to be a bitch in that thing also. Have fun trying to achieve those numbers and putting power to the ground. It will be an ok highway cruiser.
The price is also pretty steep. There are a lot of other cars in its range to consider.
That being said, it is certainly a huge improvement over the previous gen. but not my cup of tea.
Mitsu missed the boat on this one... Car and Driver and Motor Trend both has as-tested prices of $28,000+
.. I would pay the extra 3 to 5 grand and get an Evo haha... but then again, I wouldn't buy anything from that sinking ship of a company. (this coming from a GM owner

Yah, fully loaded they are as expensive as mustang gt's and the lot but they start at only $19,000. So I'm sure the base model price will attract some people, at least chicks

w/ an anemic 4banger in a heavy car
performance is respectable for the most part...but i dont like the looks of it. The back end looks okay....kinda 350z-ish. But the front sucks big time IMO. I think they should have gone back to a AWD model, but that would be too much competition for the very own Evos i guess.

AWD would just add to the weight of this heavy pig even more. They really need to cut the weight by like 300-400 lbs then it would be better.

Automobile magazine featured it in it's last issue, and it matched it up against the mustang gt and the rsx type-s. The rsx came out on top with the eclipse pulling last I think. They were talking about the ride not being all that impressive at all. As was already mentioned, it is just a shot for the crowd where appearances matter only.
I saw one on the road, and honestly thought it was quite ugly. It kinda grew on me, but I don't like it anymore. The orange is gross too. Get it if you only want the looks, but like everyone else said, there is more out there for the money.

I hate that friggen commercial where the rx-7 bows in front of it.
Its ugly, and expensive. I'll take my slow 57 Fairlane anyday.
