1981 Datsun 280ZX turbo... I'm good friends with the guy who owns it, and he's the original owner. Car is in desperate need of some TLC and a new turbo (that he has). Gonna check it out this weekend. This will probably be my next project after the frankencav gets finished
how much if u don't mind me asking
Those are neat cars. Does it have t tops? It seems they rust to death, the only ones I've seen lately barely have any metal left....
thats why Datsun changed their name to nissan, because everyone associated Datsun with rust and called them Rot-sun
Actually, Datsun was always Nissan. They made up the name Datsun to import into the US in case they failed. That way, Datsun could die off without leaving the Nissan name in shambles. But once they figured they had "arrived" in the US market succesfully, they stripped the Datsun namesake away to reveal Nissan in the US. I had an old Datsun/Nissan wagon that had both nameplates on it. It was the year they made the change (I forget what year it was, lol.)

Nitro, Datsun was not always Nissan. The company was originally named DAT when it was founded in 1911. In 1934 they joined Nissan, but not before merging with three other companies. From my understanding the reason why they kept the name datsun is because nissan was a major contributor to war vehicles back then and most people would the whole idea of buying a car from a manufacturer who built vehicles to fight against us. The name Nissan was used only in Japan and al of their export vehicles were called Datsuns. Not until 1984 were they called nissans in the US.
The Datsun history
Today, nissan trucks are still called Datsuns, thats kinda cool, but only in Japan.
thats my take

I love Datsuns, the 310s, the Z series. I have a 78 280z that I want to put a small block in, tho now I am wondering is an LS2 will fit in there.
