srt4 stock exhausts, no mufflers? how they work?
Sunday, July 10, 2005 8:20 AM
hey im getting ready to buy a SRT-4 stock exhaust setup to put on my cousins sxt but i have some questions on how they work good with giving the car backpreasure with only using 2 resonators that are about 12" each. Cause i know if you put just normal resonators like magnaflow ones or whatnot you wont have any backpreasure and you will loose power so how do the stock SRT-4 exhausts work perfect with only 2 resonators, do they work as mufflers also and are stronger than normal resonators or what? thanks

they dont NEED backpressure because of the 2 snail shells just off the back of the engine

so lets say i put the resonators off the srt4 on my 2.4 with the same backpeice design it would run fine without loosing any power?

I thought the turbo on the srt-4 acted as a muffler? Doesn't the turbo take most of the sound away?

^^^^^^^^ yup..in fact..on turbocharged cars the best exhaust is just a big straight pipe..
