No, not really, if your taling classic Karmann steel. if its a 70's era bug or super beetle then yes it's possible. Now i'm reaching pretty far back into my memory but i believe she will need to do a fuse box upgrade to 12amp....i know you do for the classics 50's and 60's. but my experience with newer bug's (70's) is not as good. My sister had a 1977 Bug brand new from the dealer in 1977, and she had the factory 8-track replaced with an aftermarket cassette so i guess from that logic it is possible.

if you mean a new beetle, you can get an adaptor plate to fit a cd player in the dash, but all of them come pre-wired for a cd changer in the back hatch on the driver side. All you have to do is get VW's cd changer, or get an aftermarket one with the right wiring harness, and hook it up, the factory head unit should have controls for the changer.

If it's a '66 down it's a 6-volt unless it's been upgraded so installing a radio would be pretty much impossible... but, '67 and up just need the dash opening grinded a little because it's not tall enough, they're already 12-volt. I still need to get around to it in my bug...

When was the last time you heard of a 60's VW with a CD player that needed to be CHANGED?
I'm pretty sure that Metra has a kit for that, or Crutchfield will more than likely stok one.

My friend has a 79 super beetle and a 99 beetle and she has a cd player in both. The only problem she has had is in her 79 with water coming through the seal by the hood and through the dash.
