Mazda boosts production on 3 model
Wednesday, June 29, 2005 10:19 AM
Mazda said it will boost production of its Mazda3 compact in Japan to meet strong overseas demand.
Mazda, a partner of Ford, said it will start manufacturing 2,000 Mazda3s a month at its Ujina No. 2 plant in Hiroshima, western Japan. This is in addition to Mazda3s built at another plant in Japan.
Mazda, which produced 337,377 Mazda3 cars in the fiscal year to March 2005, says said it will export the vehicles produced in Hiroshima to Europe, North America and Australia.

I thought it was more like 90%? If it wasn't for Ford, Mazda would be long gone..

I thought ford owned like 90% also of Mazda. Oh well, it's not surprising, the Mazda 3 is a very nice little car. There entire lineup is good and the Mazdaspeed division is doing good things also, I wonder when GM will get the idea.

it's topped every "best of" used car list since it was first built in 1990. the protoge was not a peice...of anything. very good cars. it's been consumer reports #1 best used car buy from day one also. the 1st gens shared the same motor from the miata...hardly a crappy motor. you may not have liked the protoge line....but it was not a bad car.....as say....oh, a cavalier.

one protoge doesn't make them ALL a peice of junk. maybe he didn't take good care of it. who knows? my sister had one and although she beat it to heck, she did manage to follow the routine maintence on it and it ran over 200,000 miles without any trouble. i have friends that still have their 1st gens w/ the miata motor in it also topping 200,000 miles and they still run like a swiss watch. another friend with a 2000 has never had trouble of any kind.
