finally got the sidepipes put on the SS (56k meh)
Wednesday, June 29, 2005 12:15 AM
after much exhaust manipulation, and little sucess, i took the car to HP racing and had the sidepipes done...They sit rather low, but it was either that, or cut into the body(which i didn't have the money to do at the time). The car seems to have more top end pull now, but lost a hair off idle...meh, oh well.

I'll grab a sound byte of it at another date...sounds raspy and beastly..

No "H" pipe..
No "X" pipe..
None of that crap...
though i am still running cats'

and the hood pins...

they look nice from what i can see... but a side pic of your side pipes would help a ton.

Those do hang pretty low to the ground. I am not a big fan of side pipes unless it is in the body but it isn't that bad. I would try to tuck them up a litle bit.

Have a good one,
Justin

Be careful not to rip them off over bumps.
Very nice...

An "H" or "X" pipe gives a way better tone rather than just loud true dual. Still sick looking though. Good Job!

also, put an h-pipe in there somewhere, you get more power and it will keep it from sounding like two 4-cylinder engines. that's a common problem with sidepipes that don't have crossovers (ie. the very first couple of years the Viper was made - It sounded goofy because it was essentially two 5-cylinder exhaust notes)

thanks for the advice.. yea, they do sit a bit low and eventuallly, they will get tucked up into the body... I've scraped a bit of the tip a few times, but nothing major.. They look lower then they actually are, on account of the grass...i'll see if i can get a soundbyte today... as for not running an h or x pipe....currently, the car sounds like old school muscle, which is just what i was going for..it's raspy below 2k rpms, when you're decellerating, but that's about it..

The hood pins are functional.. it's a stock hood, but i've never had hood pins on a car, and after seeing the rksport camaro, and how they looked on that, i had to try them out.

I would have gone with Z28 tips tucked right under the body panel and like everyone else said put in an H-pipe in there.
