VW New Beetle goes 14.125 @ 98.81 MPH

How's that for sleeper?

R/T: .092
60': 2.186
330': 6.006
1/8: 9.144
MPH: 79.17
990': 11.763
1/4: 14.125
MPH: 98.81

Not chipped, on stock street tires (RSA's). $1300 total in mods on the car right now, less than what most 1.8T owners pay for an exhaust and intake to only run low 15's.

I can still up the boost to 20 safely (18 psi currently), and will run without the MAF in the intake tract (this run was with it unplugged but still in the intake) and replaced by 3 inch pipe and a velocity stack of some kind.

To quote an Integra owner at the track tonight, "What the F___ did you do to that thing??"

Beat an Integra(mid 15's), a Chevy Silverado (mid 15's), a Grand Prix GTP with custom pulley, intake and chip (14.2), a Mustang GT 5.0 (15.1), and a mostly stock GTI 1.9t (15.5).

Got beat by an M3 cuz I missed 3rd by getting the shifter stick in the space between 3rd and 5th. He ran a 14.3, and I was hauling on him until the mis-shift.

I drive a Jeep. I crush daisies. Plus the original Beetle
was actually redesigned by Hitler (seriously), and Jeep
helped win WWII. I think the flower vase is a submissive
gesture to the Jeep that bitch-slapped it throughout the
early 40s ahahahaa.

Dude, it was 60 years ago. You weren't even alive yet. Let it go. Beyond the fact that Hitler didn't "design" anything. He proposed the notion of a small, quick, and maneuverable personnel vehicle for transporting officers along the battlefront, and another designer built the original Bug to meet those requirements. Its like if i said to a contractor, i want my house to have X amount of space, Y amount of bathrooms, and Z amount of bedrooms. I didn't design the house, someone else designed it to suit my needs. Its a car, just because Hitler had the slightest thing to do with it doesn't mean the car is evil. Jesus, the stupid @!#$ that people bring up.

Woohoo, my car came with a flower vase... if that's all you've got you better find something else. Next time I race i think i'm putting a fricking bouquet in there just to add insult to injury.

my gas mileage hasn't changed at all... one tank of gas after last week's trip to atco got me around to work and back to atco last night, not to mention a few hours of driving to, during, and from the Jersey J meet this weekend. I was actually getting worse mileage with the MAF bogging the car out and stalling all the time.

My model year utilizes a wideband 02 sensor straight from the factory, which is the final word in the ecu's fuel control. Not all 1.8t's have this, so maybe you're friend had one with a narrowband that couldn't keep as accurate of an a/f ratio.

Besides, if i spend how many hundreds of dollars on my car for mods, what the big deal if i spend a little more on gas? If i was worried about fuel economy the Bug would be a TDI and i'd leave it unmodded.

I'm not a really a fan of the new beetles, I prefer aircooled, I have a 59. Either way those are some decent numbers out of one. Ferdinand Porsche designed the beetle, and I sure as hell wouldn't consider a jeep cherokee "a real jeep". Vw made kubelwagens and swchimmwagens for WW2, one of them was amphibious, and would float on water like a boat.

hey man, your car is badass. dont listen to those @!#$ heads. any real person into car tuning will respect a car thats quick.. wether its civic, beetle or cavalier. those are some nice times.

thats crazy the 1.8 bottom end can hold 18-20 psi

20 psi on a K03 Sport turbo isn't really that much, its only about 220 hp due to thermal efficiency (the pressure is probably equal amounts of actual air and heat), whereas a bigger turbo at 20 psi would be much more air and less heat pressure which is why a bigger turbo at the same boost makes more power. The 1.8T can hold in the neighborhood of 350 whp before really starting to break stuff. I've seen 400-450 on stock bottom end, but one chance encounter with detonation, from bad gas, or a bad plug, and POOF! Bye bye! THe K03 Sport is even smaller than a T25, which is why i hit full 20 psi before 3000 rpm.

UPDATE:

14.074 @ 98.80 MPH tonight with a 2.16 60'

Not a big improvement until you take into account I ran with 3/4 of a tank of gas in the tank, since i filled it up after tuesday's track session thinking it was going to rain today.... I normally run less than a 1/4 so with some colder temps and less gas I'm pretty sure I can hit a 13.96 or better, which would make me the 2nd fastest unchipped 1.8T on Vortex, and the fastest-ever K03-powered New Beetle.

hahahaha.. you people are sooo totally uptight

Well... I am Polish, and my father WAS around 60 years ago... he was a slave labourer
in Germany (Not at an auto plant, but in a coal mine). He nearly died in that mine, so
I'm lucky to be alive today. And even with all that family drama, I have nothing against
Germany, or their cars. I DON'T hate, and I was poking light-hearted humour of a car's
flower vase, and it's shady past (Google it for free history lesson).

... In fact, I have less issue with VW's than Jersey Jay -- otherwise he wouldn't get this
defensive and jerky towards my light comments. DUDE face it, your car has a turbo, a
flower vase and Hitler for its conceptual godfather (if that isn't worth commentary than
society is doomed to obliviousness).

Moreso, I have less issue with VW's than Flying Squirrel -- otherwise he wouldn't spit
inept profanities, to discredit historical facts. Seriously man, stop looking at yourself in
the mirror, and stop wondering why you look like Count Chocula's and Edward Scissor-
hand's love child, and get your information correct. You make comment to how a VW
Beetle turbo is faster than a Jeep... exactly who doesn't know that useless tidbit of
information? Wow man. did you also know that a cheetah is faster than a turtle? ...

In today's era, Jeep's and VW's cater to diametrically different marketing segments
(SUV's vs sports-autos), but their pasts have crossed paths. Sixty years ago Jeep's
and VW's catered to the same war effort, but they were built for diametrically different
marketing segments. The Jeep was built for the allies while the beetle was fortified,
and used by the Nazi regime. Both Brands share a past as arch rivals, so why is
anyone who knows some history surprised by my adversarial comments?

Ironically, the Beetle was originally intended as an affordable people mover only to
see its way as a course for political manipulation and Nazi war purposes. The Jeep
was originally built for the allied war effort (not as a civilian mover like the Beetle) only
to see its place in history Ironically changed as the godfather of the SUV, and the
modern day popular civilian mover (in north america anyways)..

Dude, when you get the flower vase and hitler comments on a daily basis, it eventually gets on your nerves.... I'm not uptight, but when I post something which to me is a major accomplishment, and i get a load of stupid BS, it annoys me. Yeah i know, welcome to the internet right?
