Man, I'm sooooooooo disapointed in my test ride. The acceleration did not live up to my expectations. It felt like a low 15 high 14 second car at best. To give the car some credit, it did happen to be 97 degrees with a relatively high humididty outside today, but it really didn't feel any faster than my Cavi without the juice. Another thing is that the boost guage never read beyond 10 (which I hear the max boost of 13 psi is usually never attained until after break-in). I would hope under better conditions after break-in it would pick up a few more ponies (like enough to get it to feel about 7 or 8 tenths quicker), but still, too slow for the dough.
Things I really liked about it though, were that it really was a sharp looking car (this one was bright red) with nice wheels, real neat interior with red color keyed seats and armrests and dash accents. It rode nice and seems to ride on rails, but I just expected more from the supercharged eco. Hopefully I'll get to try driving one in better conditions, but until then, if I get $21K, it's getting used to buy an SRT-4.

did it have the lsd if no then yeah it should be a high 14 sec car lol and from the desription of the seats it sounds like it doesnt as the performance package, it comes with different seats and besides if it was hot out then the supercharger is gonna be a dog i should know i used to be supercharged go find one with the performance package and on a cool day and i think you will like it better
just my .02
Did you ask if it had Premium gas in it? I test drove a Red line, and I had the same experience.. And it was hot and muggy too. I asked the dealer if there was premium gas in it? He said, no, we put regular gas in all our vehicles..
I heard premium gas makes quite a bit of difference in those cars.

^^^that is correct.....
the car is not as straight line fast as the srt-4, but if your into the turns instead of just the straight line the ss/redline owns the srt-4
i think it was motor trend that did a head to head on the cobalt ss and an srt-4 the only place the srt-4 could beat the ss was in a quarter mile but it was only by like a tenth or two. considering the differece in engine size and how the neon got better over time i think the sr-t may be trouble in a couple years.
lone wolfs right about the gas i work for a dealer and they do noy care what the car should have in the tank the only gas pump we has is regular, diesels go out for fuel,
nitro wait till you get to drive one with 93 in it. i drove the pre-production red one you see on t.v. (not me in comercial) and that thing was a rocket i cant imagine it was only 205 hp that thing could smoke the tires thru third and chirp them in 4th.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I guess the dealership missing the Premium Only sticker....
hey no one ever said car salesman were very bright. they even put regular in the new vettes!!

wow
my gto doesnt feel fast either
but its damn quick
i heard the break in period was just a rumor started by dealers because people test driving them said they felt slow, so the sales men said that to try and sell the car.

id say no
its the same way w/ the ls2
It was nice to see they only use Mobil 1 synth oils though..
There goes the BS theory that you can't break a car in with Synth oil, because it'll screw up the seals and whatnot..

i drove a redline the other day and i felt the same way. the car seemed to have nothing coming out of first but when it got into second it was fast. i wasnt too impressed with teh car untill i catualy got back into my z and drove, the power and speed difference was nice. also the car was so queit that it didnt sound like it was fast if that makes sense.
well
the covettes came w/ mobile one for a while now
so does the gto's now
vipers do all amg cars etc
so synthetic is good stuff
yeah once you get back into a slower car you can really tell the difference w/ them
lone wolf hold on there just a second before you go dumpin synthetic oil in a new engine. it needs to be built for it seals are usually neopren and the cylinder walls need to be polished from the start. you can get away with regular seals but the polished cylinder walls are a must synthetic motor oil will keep rings from seating properly and you run about a 80% chance that it'll start smokeing cause the rings cant seat. i've seen this happen on more then a few cars and the engine just keeps smokeing worse untill its pulled and re-ringed. its best to break in with reg oil and then switch. i'd hate to see anyone here mess up there new engine on a gamble.
better safe then sorry.

i just have my factory fill mobile 1
your gtos engine is built for it
, polished cyl walls, your cavs not

Exactly. Between running on regular gas, the weather being hot and muggy, and the car still being in break in period, its not a good example of what the vehicle is capable of.
The 87 octane gas alone will give it a substantial power loss, since the computer has to retard the timing and keep the boost below a certain level. Fill it with 93, and I guarantee that there will be a noticeable difference in power.

Don't know where you heard that, but its wrong. The Cobalt SS S/C is set up so that it won't see max boost during the beginning of the break-in period - as Nitro said, it didn't go higher than 10 PSI. Its designed that way so the cars get broken in properly, whats so hard to understand about that??

Hell i thought it felt slow too. the car doesn't have any torque feel to it but put another car next to it and accelerate and you'll see you winning. Any way nitro you can't go from driving your car to a cobalt of course it would feel disapointing but then again the cobalts not for everyone.
