Well right now I have a 2001 2.2 silver(best color for cavy), cavy.
It's completely stock, but everything is in perfect condition save about 4 miniscule, tiny.... like .5 mm rock chips in the paint. Engine runs great, never died, very clean. Interior is immaculate, not one burn, stain, or knick. Windows are great, I made them replace the windshield for free when I bought it because of one rock chip I didn't want to spider.
I'm thinking it's an Ok car...but not really up to what I want. It's engine is far too weak, i'm used to a V8 truck and V6 jeep.
I'm either going to do the 3800 swap, which I have pretty much all planned out up to the harness, or I will get a Camaro.
The swap has been covered several times around here so I'm not going into that. But the cost will, in the end be about the same.
With the Camaro I want a 1990+ Z28 8cyl. It can either be auto or manual, preferably manual of course. Sub 100,000 miles. Good condition, no warped/damaged pannels, good paint, rock chips in paint is ok. No chiped windows. No slippage in tranny. No engine burn or leaks.
I'm wonding do YOU think, I'll be able to get a 1990+ Z28 in good condition for under $5,500? Camaro's have always been my favorite car, and since the discontinument I'll have to jump on one as soon as I can.
By KellyBlueBook I should get around 3,000 bucks for a trade in on my car if I go to a dealer, or 4,000+ for selling it by private party.
I also think I can get 2,500-3,000 cash by september or october.
I'm really wanting the camaro, and have for as long as I knew they existed XD. What do you think? Go through with the engine swap? Or get the Camaro? My views are, the cost is going to be the same, and with the camaro I have a higher level to start on. With the camaro there is much more room to grow with keeping the stock engine.
So, I'm just wondering, I know we all love our cavys, just do you think the Camaro would be better than having a sick ass cavy? P.s. The Camaro would have the nice 6 speed tranny if I'm lucky enough to find the manual one.

We have snow... but not much, maybe a whole freaking inch all year? Is it just the RWD thing? Because that's fine, the F150 handles fine in snow although some slippage.
Insurance, I'd get under my mom cause me under the cavy is already 1,300 a year.
Gas... I'm only getting around 19 with the cavy. So what 16 or so isn't that big of deal, I get decent pay.
camaro. i love em, too. nothin like rear wheel drive and a manual... with a v8. cavy's are ok, and i own a 3800, but man i wish i had a camaro or firebird. we get too much snow, though

LT1's can be a really strong motor
if you want a weaker drivetrain, but better handling, then go with a 90-92 camaro of some form... if you want a stronger drivetrain but not as good handling, then go for a 93-02..as noted, an lt1 is in your price range.
Yeah, I've been thinking the Lt1. V8 and I'm hoping the 6 speed manual. Anycolor is cool, but I don't want heavy scratches or engine problems.
Just to let you know, there was no Z28 in 1990.
1990 was the last year for IROC, they started the Z28's again for the 1991 model year.

Well I'm wanting an Lt1... 1993-1997.. Z28 of course. But if there was in IROC in good condition for that price I'd take it.... Unlikely.
You know, I'm ok with the V6.... there's alot you can do to an engine to make it go. I'd deffinatly, deffinatly look around for the Z28, but I'd be ok with falling back on a V6. We have a ton of V6 Camaro's around here from 3000-4000.
I'm even Ok with an IROC if it was in good condition.
