First of all this is my first bike but I've ridden plenty of my friends so I'm not a complete beginner. I'm also going to take the MSF course in the next week but anyways. About the bike, well I can't really say anything negative about it. It completely amazes me in every aspect. Put about 50 miles on her yesterday and i'll probably go ride a bit more after this post.

very nice. i like it alot.
bikes are the shiz!
damn the 636r is such a bad bike. i read a huge article on it. its got the shortested gearin on a 600cc and has quicker 60-100 times too. isnt the redline around 15k?
15500 is the redline. I've had it up to 13k in 1st gear, its crazy. It does get very uncomfortable after 30 min or so of constant riding though but I guess speed comes at the cost of comfort. The bike is very solid and feels planted even at high speeds. I'd reccomend it to anyone. My friend just bought a new cbr600 and this thing kills it.

well since im a member on that site sweet ride..i got a 01 zx6r.. im 0transam0 on the site..
It doesn't "kill" the CBR600RR, I have raced them and yes the extra 36ccc makes a difference, but it's not huge. Rider is the most important factor.
The 636 is a great bike. How is the ins. did you compare to the ZX6RR (true race spec 600)?
If you are getting sore riding for only 1/32 hour, you likely need to adjust how you ride. I had the same issue until I did some reading.
Take the weight off you hands, you should not be leaning on the bars, it will give you sore wrists and hands and cause your turn in to go wide. You don't control the bike as well if your weight is on the bars.
Hang on with your legs. Your legs have huge muscles that can go musch longer than your arms. Not only that but hanging on with your hands tranlated any fron end vibs to the whole bike, causing handling problems. Hanging on with your legs eases the strain on your back as well.
To train yourself, ride one-handed on straights for a while. If you have only one hand on the bars you cannon lean without streering the bike, therefore you'll keep the weight of the bars automaticly.
Get the books "A Twist of the Wrist" vol I and II. They are great and willteach you a tonb about sportbike handling.
Ride safe, full gear, most importantly.. Have fun.

1/32 hour should read 1/2 hour.

My biggest problem isnt the wrists actually, its in my neck. When i'm just cruising around I don't crouch very much and my neck gets a little stiff. It feels good tucking though.

What kind of helmet do you have? how tall are you? stock windscreen?
If you don't have a good airflow around your helmet (noisey inside) you are getting more drag than necessary. If you are tall maybe a Zero Gravity Double bubble is in order. I absolutely could not get behind my stock windscreen, I'm 6ft nothing of average build. I bought a double bubble and love it. I highly recommend them. At speed I can now get completely under the airstream, what a difference! Only about 1 inch higher than stock, makes life better.
I have an Arai Quantum II and only ever get a stiff neck if there is a strong cross wind on a highway tour, after about 1 hour or so. After 2 or 3 hours your shoulder hurts more than your neck, so it's OK
If there is no cross wind I can ride for about 6 hours before I start to get sore. If it is a "race pace" ride, about 2 hours is my limit. 3 of us covered 160 Km (100 Miles) in just under an hour. Tons of corners from tight to sweeper.. Insane paced ride, I don't really recommend it. I almost fell off my bike when we finally stopped. I was riding sweep and we had no radios. The last 5 or 10 minutes I was in agony. I really admire the MotoGP guys, they have to be in incredible shape. Of course having great gear helps.
Play safe.

I have an Arai atral x. Its a good lid but the windscreen on the bike is horrible, it provides almost not protection.

Time for the Double bubble. Be sure to get the "Zero Gravity" brand as they have great optics and they actually care if you can see through it. They are not too pricey and make a world of difference.
Enjoy the ride.

I have an Arai Mick Doohan & AGV Troy Corser Racer replica helmets and never had a problem with neck pains......just back pains.
Well since i am as well a member on the site(zedx6rroadracer) I can view the pics. Nice bike of course great choice. I own a 2001 ZXR and a 2004 ZX6RR. and will probably end up getting an 06 ZX6RR when they come out. Like said above buy the double bubble, learn to ride the bike a little better, that will come in time, I think we all had the same issues when we started riding. As far as learning the bike stay on Kawiforums we are a great bunch of guys that will help you with any problem you need and I can say this bacause I have been on it since pretty much the beginning. And please leave your pics on the site you cant hotlink them here.
Have you found any slip on exhausts yet for the 05? I just got this bike in titanium on monday and have only seen slip-ons for 03-04.
Check out Kawiforums.com, register and check out the section on zx5r. There is a whole section on aftermarket parts and another for exhaust clips for the 05.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, thats as good as they are going to feel all day. ~ Dean Martin
Not here. Niether parked in my laneway, nor do I see many on the road. My buddy has a ZX10R though, and I know of 2 others in town. Sweet ride. I have about 1 hour in the saddle on it, spooky fast.
Hondas dominate my home area (in numbers), Yamaha would have to be a very close second, then zooks, the kawis, and all the rest. I think the fastest bikes around are modded Kawis and Suzukis though. A couple very fast blackbirds (in a straight line) but the ZX10Rs and new GSXR1000s are stupid quick. R1s are still up there of course.
