Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
They're fast though... 260hp... comparable to the SRT-4 as far as 0-60 and quarter mile times.
But they're also overpriced, much like the 3rd gen. Eclipses... Motor Trend tested one as it had an estimated as tested price of $28,000.... ouch.

An eclipse convertable was considered for my new car, but even the used ones are WAYYYY to expensive for what you get
I think the new ones are ugly , and the wheel gap is def noticable.
yeah them new eclipses got even more wheel gap than me! thats sad
My car was made with wrenches, Not chopsticks.
Damn, who has the "this thread is worthless without pics" smilies?

That explains the wheel gap right there.
Customer: This car sits too high.
Dealer: Well, you can buy our super sw33r lowering kit from Mitsu for only $2,000
Customer: Sch-weet

I think my J has the worst wheel gap of anything, even though its an LS, no body molds, and "15 steelies, makes the rear gap look like Baja potential, the front is not so bad, but man, the rear is....
LOL...

Thats so you can put them twankies on it yo
I just had a thought on the worst wheel gap in automotive history, the AMC Concorde, that piece from the early '80s, a car that kinda looked like a 4X4, wish I had a pic of one, just to laugh at.
A perfect example of why Chrysler almost went bankrupt, until the krauts rescued them.
I dont think the gap on the clipse in NEARLY as bad as on the cobalts..

Which Cobalt are you referring to??
The SS S/C has hardly any wheel gap. The regular Cobalts have some gap, but they are economy cars, so thats expected.
The Eclipse, however, is a sports car - that amount of gap just looks ridiculous.

an eclipse is not a sports car

Well Mitsubishi sems to think its going to compete with the Mustang GT, RX-8, and 350Z - and I'd definitely consider those sports cars.
The price starts at about $26K, and it can be optioned out beyond $30K - what exactly would you consider it?? A sport compact?? I mean its got a V6 and weighs over 3500lbs, to me thats no sport compact.
Heres what Autobytel lists it as:

Well hell then i guess all cars with a v6 weighting 3500lbs and cost around 30k must be a sports car.

Checked into it, insurance company considers the new eclispe a sports car, insurance was a biatch! I do have one speeding ticket that counts toward insurance but god damn the quote was crazy!
Anyway, that wheel gap is bad for a car that is supposed to be a sports car, and sad that mitsu makes it an extra option to have the car lowered with a factory option instead of just sitting lower. O well, for that money i would pick up an EVO.
'02 LS Sport - Indigo Blue
Insurance says Z's are sports cars as well. I guess i'm picky when using the term sports car.
