Not really, it is more like wide-flared.

I have been driving without inspection or emissions for the past couple of months. One reason was because my tires were sticking out 3-4 inches out from my stock fender flares. The other reason was because I am a lazy bum and didn't feel like putting my stock wheels / tires back on to go get it inspected.

My flares came in this weekend from backorder so I put them on right away.

Stock flares:

New flares:

I know they look kind of funny right now since they are covering up the tire pretty good, but I decided to get the 7 inch flares now since I won't have to buy another set of flares when I go with a 35x12.50 tire in the future.

Comments / Suggestions / Harassments are welcomed.

Thanks for looking.

Have a good one,
Justin

Your tires are way too small for the flares to be that big.

nice, they'll look better w/ 35s I saw a guy who had TJ flares on a CJ-8 last weekend. Looked good. Are you from PA? I heard the state popos are cracking down on jeeps up there. They're sitting outside paragon and doing road checks and nailing guys for anything they can find.

It is a 4.0, but it isn't the HO version. It still has a little pep to it since I thrown on the bigger meats, but I would LOVE to stroke it out to a 4.7L one day.

hahaha, tell me about it. I had a person yell at my one time for kick up dirt and some mud at his car a few months back. I end up telling him to deal with it and learn not to tailgate me anymore.

ChrisIDV wrote:Your tires are way too small for the flares to be that big.

Yeah, but as Sizzy already quoted me earlier, they are just there so I don't have to buy the same thing twice.

Yes, I am from PA, more southern PA so I think I get a mood mix of PA trails and MD trails. As far as the cops go, I really haven't noticed them cracking down hard on the four wheelers yet. Where I am at, there are A LOT more sport compacts running around that the cops focus their attention on.

I got pulled over a year ago when I first got my Jeep doing donuts in a gravel pit. The cop talked to us a little bit and said that he owns a couple Jeeps as well and let us go. He then told us if we have nothing planned the next weekend to head on up to Rausche Creek, lol.

That and they are like $350. I will never pay that much for flares. I ended up paying around $125 total for mine. I like to try to keep a factory look so I was happy to find the stock looking flares in 7.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. It makes me want to dump my paycheck in some more parts this week, woo hoo!!!

Have a good one,
Justin

just don't be a dork and try to squeeze the big meats in with out a lift. i hate...and do mean HATE morons who cram 33's on a stock Wrangler with a 1/2 inch of tire clearance in the wheel wells and then act like they are off road gods because they have a jeep with big tires. tires don't make a jeep trail worthy alone...GROUND celarance and articulation DO. if your tires only have a 1/2 inch clearance then the second you hit an embankment your tires will rub the inner fender....an Wha-la....damage to either or both tire and body.

do the tire with the lift at the same time, trust me it's worth it.

i laugh at those idiots...they are as bad as Hummer H2 owners. they know nothing about off roading, but think just having a jeep and slapping the biggest tire they can find makes them invincible.

Why buy them in the first place? The stock ones were fine. When you switch to bigger wheels you could switch to new flares. It's like putting a body kit on a car and not painting it because you don't have the money or putting two rims on a car because you couldn't afford the others.

That was pretty much the intention in the first place. I am currently running a 2 inch lift with a 32x11.50 tire on a 15x8 steel wheel. I have been disconnected a few times already on the trail and have tucked the tire pretty well in the fender with no damage.

I will be upgrading from the 32 to a 35x12.5 tire on the same dimension wheel along with a 4.5" kit from Rubicon Express. (it actually sits around 5" since Rubicon Express springs are a bit more stiffer than some other companies).

Trust me, the Jeep isn't invincible, tree branches already made me well aware of that.

I do have a pretty nice size tire compared to my stock ones that I use to have on there. I bought them in the first place because in Pennsylvania it is the law to have your tires within the flares...soooooo for me to not get pulled over all the time, flares were on top of my list to purchase.

I have herd from crusing around jeep forms that to run a 35 you will need to rear gear, which is like $1200. But the jeep looks good man. I still have no jeep , and wish you would slow down so I could catch up.lol

hurry up and get your rig man

I definitely would need to re-gear when I do the upgrade along with some other major components I will need to invest in:

-rear axle since the D35 is crap when running anything over a 33 inch tire (using a ford 8.8 rear end). I still kick myself in the ass for not just going up higher and getting the Sport model with the Dana 44 but oh well.
-driveshaft w/ sye
-along with the components that come with the super flex kit (track bar, upper adjustable control arms, etc.)

I am running 3.73 gears now so I think I am going to bump up to 4.56's or 4.88's.

I am saving myself a ton of money with the install of the gears because my friends dad is really good with 4x4's and is willing to help me install them so it will be a great thing to learn how to do.

As far as getting all those parts, I am taking my time so you will have plenty of time to catch up. I just have been finding some really nice deals on the net and have some extra funds lying around.

I do have a few more goodies on the way that I decided to get first before going any higher (rocker guards, skid plates, york air compressor which is engine driven and a cb radio).

This rig in my eyes needs to be more than just an off-roader, I would like it to be the go anywhere, do anything Jeep without having a worry about running into problems along the way since everything will be accessible. I got bit really hard with the Jeep bug.

Have a good one,
Justin

that's 2 inches of lift???

wow it is barely even there. 2inches of lift on a Suzuki is a world of difference. but looking at the before and after pics now i think the lift looks un noticeable because the flares are too big right now with those tires. However i can tell you from personal experience those flares WILL be totally the shiznit when you finalize the lift and tires you want.

IMO, I'd go back to stock flares till you have the lift and final tire size you want...the jeep looked 100x's better as it was with your current set-up, now it looks dispoportioned (sp?)

Yeah learn how to install those gears man. Then I'll have to take a trip up there one year so you can do mine. the hell with spending $1,200.

1200 bucks? ouch unless they're including the price of the gears and a locker that's insane. There's a shop here that does it for around 300 an axle. But I'm lazy and just find axles w/ 4.10s
