If you had 1-1.5K to spend on a winter beater what would it be?
Something to basically last for 4-5months (Nov-Mar) without ANY major repairs or costly maintenace... maybe an oil change if you feel generous... maybe.
After winter it gets driven off a cliff. On Fire. Or you can 'store' it until next winter... whatever that entails.
I am thinking early 90's Corolla... or maybe something by Hyundai...
Opinions?

1992 sunbird coupe. You might even want to keep it.
I know I saw one in a great condition around here for only $600.

I know a sweet 89' tercel hatch that is for sale. Speed vents included. asking $650. obo
It's got about 285K registered miles. The speedo cable has been broke for a couple seasons. Runs like a champ on the second engine and third trans.

my escort wagon
but then again youd prolly need to repair it
any old toyota or honda would work well
i found a trooper for under $1000 in good shape, I'm looking for a beater too, so when my honda blows up after I put the turbo on in about a week or two I'll still have a car to deliver in.
I would say an escort, maybe a fiero
Fieros suck in the winter.

My friend just bought 1991 Audi 100 for $600 the other day. It isn't the AWD version though. Runs good and nothing majorly wrong with it.
You could always look for a used Corolla or Paseo, I found a couple in the $1000 range. There is also some older Volkswagon Golfs selling for $700.
Have a good one,
Justin
