the nice flat torque curve is GREAT...that car probably smokes damn close to everything off the line

Actually Cobalts are all built in North America. I believe its the Lordstown Ohio plant.
As for the numbers that were posted, they are very nice. 221HP to the wheels is just awesome. Nice gain over the 217 just by changing the air filter with a K&N.
Can't wait to see what kind of numbers they will put down after some serious mods

Serious mods? its already got a supercharger! and only produces a bit over 200hp LOL. GM is run by a bunch of hicks that havnt stepped up in time. Look at the s2000...WELL over 200hp and its a 2.0 NA car LOL.

Oh boy did you walk into a minefield.
Now every pimple-faced kid who is loyal to GM and dreams of one day owning a Cobalt, is going to chime in about how much it is better than Honda or Acura.

Yeah what 240 hp (bet only about 220 to the wheels) and a crappy 162 tq.... That engines prally has like 12:1 ratio pistons I want see that engine handle 750HP on 24 psi...
s2000 cost what 32,000 that engines sells for like 10-12K... Im a honda fan and i say that the s2000 Is WAAAAY overated... Its a crappy car in my opinion...
U can play 22,000 for a faster Cobalt or 32,000 for the S2000
spin an s2000 in its peak power everyday and spin a cobatl ss in its peak power everyday see which lasts longer
high NA motors are stressed a lot moe then high power boosted motors, due to over revving...
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
yea the s2000 is no where near in the price range of a cobalt ss......i duno why that was even brought up
but anyway, yea nice gain

im sorry did you just say the cobalt is faster than the s2000??? LOL!!!! and the s200 is not only faster, but better in pretty much every other way, besieds maybe driving in thesnow.
Point:
Cobalt uses a supercharger to boost volumetric efficiency, S2k doesn't. Er go, the S2k needs to have a higher compression (read less durable long-term) piston and head set to achieve the same output. Both put out about 100 HP per litre.
The S2k has hype, the Cobalt hasn't got that because Honda is the best right? Give your head a shake.. S2000 is overpriced and overrated. It's Forced Induction options are severely limited until you put in low compression pistons, a new EMU/FMU and fuel pump, and you're still driving something that you can only put on the road safely for 5-6 months of the year (assuming you get a winter season, and even then, you'd do well to stay out of rain, because the factory tires aren't all that sticky). Cobalt has forced induction already, and all you need do is buy the compressor wheel from GM perf. parts, and you get more hp.
Dollar for dollar you get more out of a Cobalt SS S/C with the performance package. Can you even get an LSD with the S2000?

as GAM said
s2000 has a hella high compression ratio
and makes less torque than a new cavalier
whilest the cobalt ss has a high compression ratio for a boosted engine
and can make power past the redline they just havent tested it enought to change it

i am a believer the new cobalt with a decent driver can rip at a mid to high 14. My buddies S2k stock ran 14.5 at 95. dynoed 200hp to the wheels stock. The s2k just has the weight advantage and rear wheel drive.

That's exactly what my car has currently, the k&n drop in filter. These cars like the srt-4 are both underrated from the factory. I can't wait to REALLY start working on the motor though.
Stay tuned.....
