Picked this up today, I've always wanted one of these, A CJ-8 Scrambler
, Its an 82 w/ the Iron Duke, 4spd. Its in decent shape the bed will need replaced and a few spots that need patches but it runs good, carb needs some figuring out but I should be able to have it on the road in a week or two

I am jealous of that, it looks pretty solid from the pictures. I am looking forward to see some progress pics of it in the future.
My buddy has an old Willy's that we have been working on for a little time. It makes me want a CJ so much more.
Have a good one,
Justin
That's sick. I wish I could find one of those for a decent price.
How long is the bed on that?
Rob
Sold 2/2/05
Its got a five foot bed. I'm probably going to replace the front bench with bucket seats and make the bench a rear facing seat under the rollbar. (More seats = more room for ladies
) I found a 12 bolt Isuzu rear w/ discs that I can get for free that I'm probably going to put in the rear.

One of my friends had one of those. Unsure of the engine size. Very solid Jeep though. They still look bizarre to me when they have the full hard top that covers the bed, like this one...

NICE! I had a CJ7, always thought that a scrambler would have been nice, little more
room inside, better room behind the rear seat etc. One of the slickest setups I've seen
is to use a regular hardtop on a CJ8 - that leaves a small open bed in behind.
I had the 4cyl AMC engine, you are lucky to have a duke - I believe its the same bolt pattern
as chevy v8's, I had to pay quite a bit for adapters to do the v8 swap.
And as for axle swap - If you have the AMC 20 - its pretty solid, after swapping to solid axles,
like moser etc.
looks good man
i should of took a pic of this guys jeep who i met last night, he could of been an inspiration to you lol
my friend knows him, lives in his neighborhood and the dude is a cop, really good guy and we see his garage open, it was an 86 (if thats still a CJ8) hes out there workign on fuel injection for it, it has a old ford windsor v-8 in it, 3/4 ton axles front and rear, all custom suspension with new leaf springs shocks etc, 4.10 rears, posi rear so both tires spin, the thing is a MONSTER he was showing us pictures of some of the rocks and shti he has climbed
yeah a one piece kit definitely helps the 20 but those are pricey and the zuzu rear if free
plus I get rear discs. 86 was the last year of the cjs, CJ8 included. Yeah I'm happy I've got the chevy bolt pattern. If the duke ever dies on me I've got a 4.3 vortec in my shop I can pop in. I'm probably gonna get 3-4" lift for now then when I have some more cash for driveshaft mods may go a little higher.
