well tonight I've won many small battles against my project car.. a 1988 toyota supra turbo.
On my agenda I've had to
Retorque the headbolts (X)
Replace the timing belt (X)
Fix the cam timing (X)
Replace exhaust manifold gasket (X)
Replace turbo to manifold, turbo to downpipe gaskets (still waiting on these to come in)
Remove A/c system (X)
Replace V-belts (X)
Replace cam cover o-rings (new cam covers with black powdercoating) (X)
new spark plug valley cover with mirror finish (X)
all I need now is a few more vacuum lines and such, and my turbo gaskets, and the car will be back on its feet.
Then its the speedometer cable fix, ABS fix, and idle fix. Those three should be fun :sarcasm:
anyway, onto some progress pics... sorry they're kinda dark
a shot of the head with the cam covers off
a nice shot of the cam gears
where the turbo goes...
the car being worked on...
the stock CT26 turbo... pretty big for stock
the engine after a WHOLE bunch of re-assembly
same...
the car from further away...
even further... mmmm 80s hotness
the happy gauge =)
the car idled like crap but boosted awesome... my cam timing was off by about -10degrees, so hopefully the car idles better and boosts harder
Well this is great...that's all we need is another turbo supra back on the road...HAHA
Looks good and glad to hear your getting your puppy back on it's feet.

how many psi that run at?
-Borsty
stock it runs at like 6.5psi
and makes 235hp and 245tq
I'm going to be upping it to about 10-12psi... not sure yet since I don't know where the dreaded fuel cut is, or how the turbo will react with the stock innards.
shortly after. I'm going to have the turbo upgraded to a .60 compressor with a 10 degree clip on the exhaust side after the basic intake/exhaust and some electronics and fuel stuff.
should put me around 350hp at least, and about 13.7 in the quarter
if not faster
again this is all speculation, some of this stuff could have a huge impact and make the car much faster than I anticipate... but it will be in the 12s by the end of the summer.
yo i had the same car when i was in highschool, cept mine was black... have fun with it man, once its finished you'll like it... that car was pretty quick for having the kms it did... good luck with it...

Now Blazing: Bunker Bud
Stock internals can handle up to 500rwhp, Fuel cut is usually around 12psi but it varies on our cars, I would recommend no clip just leave it be, clipping the CT26 is useless (IMO), some folks like it clipped because it'll spool sooner but then make less power. I like it unclipped just for the extra power.

hey man welcome back (again)
without a clip on the exhaust, where do you think she'll reach full spool? I can deal with a little lag as long as its fully spooled by like 3500rpm or so...
Haha thanks man, you should reach full boost between 3.5K and 4K. Get rid of that restrictive turbo elbow and get yourself a DDP or a free flowing elbow and DP and you should spool alot sooner maybe 3.2-3.3K. Oh and to raise fuel cut you should grab yourself a Lexus V8 AFM or get yourself a nice Air/Fuel Controller from Blitz or Apexi.
I'm thinkin about doing the MAF-T to get rid of the afm all together and run a 3.5" GM MAF (that I'll be getting through RKsport... go figure)
...but the AEM EMS stand alone computer has caught my eye too.... I'll eventually run that but try out the maf-t to see what its like, and run an electronic boost controller (I like the apex'i unit)
the fuel cut defencor will probably get installed to keep the car off of fuel cut... but if not, I"ll rock the apex'i safc-ii to match the ebc
