my cousin went to see a trans am for sale and it has 3800kms on it.so it's really like new..the guy says it's all origianal and modified from gm.it has
-recaro racing seats that are leather
-short throw shifter
and an lt4or lt4 kit my cousin doesn't really know cause he's not into the mechanics of cars..he's rich enough that he only drives em.lol..........i thought that lt4 was the engine used in a 96 vette grand sport
so the questions are
1;did dealers actually do these packages?
and 2- what's an lt4 or lt4 kit?
My guess if it has an lt4 it was a conversion and it was pre 98. but ill wait as borsty will probally wiegh in on this.
lt1 came in the camaro/firebird. the lt4 came in like the pre 96ish vettes. its possible that the lt1 camaro has an lt4 conversion kit.
lt4 is a kit that can be purchased for an lt1. it will not fit an ls1
Don't steal, the government doesn't like competition
[quote=TRD 901-Z™]the lt1 has the lt4 conversion the ls1 has the ls6 convertion
the guy is messin with ya.
^^^^^^ he is right
they guy either A doesnt know squat , or B is mixed up
or C both
lt4 kit as can be purchased thru edelbrock makes 420 hp, not dealer installed. ever.
and im pretty sure an LT4 was never in a production car.

what engine was in the early/mid 90s corvettes? not the dohc engine that was in the zr1, but the normal corvettes? i thought it was an LT4???
hhhmm just checked it out, i always thought they had the lt1 or the ls1 like the f body .
my bad.

didn't the 1997 aniversary edition camaro ss have an lt4 from factory (very few made some where around 100) this was just a fast as any vette in that day?
^^^idk, i know one year that the newer camaro had the 427 in it though.. wouldnt mind one of those. think it was the zl1 or something
there was the LT1, LT4 and LT5
LT1 = power rating want to say about 275 hp basic V8 from F-bodys, vettes, roadmasters, impalas ect..
LT4 = about 330 HP came in Grandsport corvettes and a couple other lucky few got them in f-bodys
LT5 = DOHC 4 valve per cylinder (it was either twin plug or twin injectors as well) V8 it was was pumping out 400+ hp for the ZR1 vettes (I think there officail rating was like 395 - 405 depending on year)
oh anf by the way, 2001 trans am is an LS1 so it really doesn't matter anyway

isnt that a lotus designed engine? but yeah i heard about them having extra injectors.
^^^ I actually typed that it was a lotus engine but I deleted itbecause I wasn't sure... so apaerantly I'm not the only one that knows about that, thanks for confirming
no prob. how did the extra injector feature work? a friend of mine told me it was a switch/key that u turned and it just sprayed in alot more fuel. idk why chevy stopped making that engine... that 32v dohc v8 made like 395 hp back in the early 90s... the new ohv v8 makes like 405 almost 8 years later...
the ZR1's came with a seperate key for power... you could start and drive the car but it only ran at about 1/2 of its total power, like limp mode kinda thing.... when you used the second key to switch it to full power that thing was a beast, full power no holding back, it was a @!#$in fast for when it came out, aparently GM did that in anticipation of nutsacks taking out there daddy's vette so they gave them a vette with the power of a V6 hahahah what a kick in the nuts to be the kid who gets to take it out
sweet. wonder how much the repair bill is on that engine since its nothing like any other vette engine and was only made for like 3 years
