I was just wondering on who you guys thought would win this race.. i have 2 friends that have these cars and they are puttin off racing.. both are stock, the vr-4 turbo's are at about 13 psi. Who do you guys think would win this race?
year of the f body would be nice and trans
-Borsty
if they're both around the same year, I'm gonna say the better driver wins
i would probably say vr4, it would easily get it off the line to with awd

i would have to go with the 3000gt..my buddy has a 93 firebird formula and its dog slow
ls1 didnt exist around the same year as a 3kgt. i think they stopped in like 95??? so im sure its an lt1. is it an auto or a 6 speed? im thinkin the 3gkt will take it if its fresh.
3000GT's were sold from 1991-1999
i tried to space it all out but it wouldnt let me... but thats 0-60 and 1/4 mile times

if its a 98+ firebird with the LS1 engine in it.. i will have to say the Firebird will win for sure... even though its only RWD these cars take off like a bat out of hell if launched properly.. i have had no problems at all beating an STi in our 02 T/A that has a LS1 in it.... never raced a 3000GT though...

what soruce were these gotten from, most seem bullish cause of the same car and engine is giving different times.

The 3000GT is a 93'-5 spd and the trans am is a 94' auto.
sounds like their pretty even to me. looks like it all depends on how good the 3k driver is at shiftin.
I'd go with the LT1 b/c they're even stock, and the 3000gt would lose more power over time compared to the LT1, since there's so much more that can go wrong with it.
...
Also, automatic fbodies usually have the same et's as a manual, just with a lower trap speed.
...
id like to know the miles and conditions of these cars... theres too many factors with older cars IMO
ill go with the firebird.
AWD is heavy @!#$.
-Borsty
firebirds are heavy/boats
3400 lbs f body weight give or take, those awd cars are heavy as @!#$
-Borsty
The VR-4 will rape it off the line....it's still a 13 second car vs. a 14 sec car (yes the LT1's are that slow with auto's!)
Also...the 96+ VR-4 get a bump in boost from 11 to 13psi I believe.
