Has anyone had any experience, or have instructions for removing the dash of a Chevrolet Cobalt? I'm wanting to put in an aftermarket stereo, and would like to do it all myself. I have experience taking cars/dashes apart, I had a 2003 Cavalier, did all the install myself for a deck, amp and subs. I haven't taken a look at my Cobalt yet, just wanted to see if I could find any help before going at it myself.
Thanks
It's a Chevrolet, just follow your bolts!
Seriously, just take a look and I'll bet you can figure it out. I don't think it would be more time consuming than a Cavalier.......
Well I got a little impatient, and did decide to just go for it, because yes, the cavlier although a pain, was pretty straight forward. To my surprise, the precious goods(head unit) are no longer kept inside by means of the dash.
All I had to do was pry up the nice paneling that surrounding the console surround, remove that, and voila, stock head unit is gone. Just like with the cavalier, the warning of must relocate head unit seems bull@!#$, as I left the unit disconnected and proceded to test out all the nice stock gadgets/extras which all worked perfectly. I don't have Onstar, so I'm not sure what the deal is if you have that, but my head unit will rest nicely inside on a shelf from now on.
I don't know how to take it apart but I would like to know how it will look with an after market deck. Please post pics once you get it done.

If I ever get a Cobalt, I am most definately ripping the headunit that I have in my Cavalier out and puting it in the Cobalt.
i will snap a few pics of my friends head unit after we put the new one in
I did alittle research... it's as easy as a few clips...
wow, sorry I should have resized that lol.
