So, is the Saturn Sky that is supposedly being released in the US someday similar to the Opel Speedster? From the few pics I've seen, they look similar and I think the Sky will be powered by the Ecotec too, right? Correct me if I wrong, please. I think the Speedster is a sweet lil ride and I wouldn't mind seeing something like it in the US. Anybody got the info?
uh.. other cars?
And to my knowledge, the Saturn Sky is supposed to be based on the Pontiac Solstice.

Yes its based off the pontiac solstice. And 6 months after the production of the Saturn SKY, GM will introduce a Saturn SKY Redline, which will be powered by a turbocharged 253HP 2.0L Ecotec engine.

there is an opel version of the car...not shure exactly the name , i dont think its the speedster
and they should up that 235hp in the cobalt ss/ion redline while there at it!
the opel was a concept of the car
Actually it was a Vauxhal design that inspired the saturn sky. I posted pics of the vauxhaul a while back, it was a the detroit auto show two years ago along with the chevy nomad, etc.
I love the saturn sky. It's styling and interior I prefer over the soltice, however im sure with the right aftermarket the solstice can look good also.
The redline version get's me excited, combine a RWD lightweight platform and add a turbocharded ecotec, that's a good recipe for fun.
And the rumors starts flying.
Redline w/Eco Turbo is not confirmed yet, just a speculation.
As of now, we are getting the 2.4L Ecotec only.

incorrect, as said above no sky redline has been planned and although the sky and the solstice share the same platform they are both based on the vauxall

yeah it was vauxhal
i always mix them up
there are more rumors of the LSJ engines going into it
Solstice, Sky, VX220 ( Ithink that is the name of it) all fall under the "Kappa" platform which is all new from the ground up.
The older Opel Speedster and (not 100% sure) England's Vauxall had a version of the old Speedster. The Speedster was based under the Lotus Elise platform. Hence the lightweight compared to the Kappa triplets.

the vx 220 turbo?
car and drivers car of the year in europe
its been around w/o the turbo for at least a year or two
the opel speedster and the vx220 are nearly identical
^^^
Opel Speedster, Vauxhall V220, Lotus Elise. Share platforms <<< Old designs
Pontica Solstice, VX Lightning, Saturn Sky share the same platform (Kappa). <<All New
Kappa is what is coming on the Saturn, not the old Elise platform. Weight difference between the two is tremendous, roughly about 900lbs heavier for the Kappa.
