No 525-hp Z06! Awwwww!
Like 505HP was not good?
When the Z06 version of the new Chevrolet Corvette goes on sale this October, we know a 7.0-liter V8 will be under the hood pumping out a now certified 505 hp (vs. the initial 500 hp).
What we’re told is that, unlike the 2002-2004 C5 Z06s that picked up 20 hp over previous years’ Z06 models (thanks to a new catalyst and a freer-flowing exhaust system), we shouldn’t hold our breath for a similar power upgrade in Z06s in a few years.
For the 2007model year, there will not be a 520- or 525-hp version of this car, said Tadge Juechter, assistant chief engineer.
We don’t have any tricks left, added Corvette chief engineer Dave Hill.
So all together... . Awwwww!

Sure, they don't!!!
This is the same story we heard when they said the ZR1 Corvettes were being produced, that it will be the end-all beat-all Corvette. And 3 years later was being whooped by the new LS1s, which were supposed to be fully performance engineered, so that any modifications will actually drag horsepower down.
And when tuning tricks ARE no longer benificial, there's always forced induction!!!

They will have something.....505 hp just isn't enough
Have a good one,
Justin
Theres no such thing as too much horsepower.
I think they like having a NA beast. But i def see room for more HP from there NA engine. I mean jesus they make higher HP engine then that in crates.
price on it?? i dont suppose its the vette setup you can get for 48k...
GM has not set out a price yet^^
But expect it over the C5 ZO6, so over $55K

I've always expected the Corvette at some point and time to go FI, if only as an option. And I still think that it is forseeable, although I don't know when.

There is always room for improvements, how small those may be.

GM has a working S/C made for the LS2. This was made for a Caddy STS SAE project.
Found here!!!
Now for the LS7. I know for a fact that the C6-R has 590HP and 625lb-ft of torque. So GM don't tell me there ain't no room for improvement!

Of course GM is not going to talk about boosting power for '07, how many '06's would they sell if they told everyone, wait, next year's model is going to have more power...

considering the racecar doesnt have to pass emissions , it gets a better pcm tune , long tube race headers , no cats , bigger better exhaust
plus alot more goodies
^^lol o.k I'll call you better

True, I know that LS7 in street-form is almost maxed out. You can still get away and find an extra ponies (approx 15-20) as you can see C6-R found 85 ponies and like an extra150 lb-ft of torque.
So there is room for improvement, question is.... How much can you get? and Will that improvement sacrifice long-term longetivity?

well a good long tube header , will free up some power
i know a few companies are having trouble getting more power from the standard C6 as far as a catback goes , i guess the mufflers have by-pass of some kind
and once companies get past the program codes , that will free up more power
so im very sure there will be some power to get out , not sure how many will actually do it , lol
its pretty badasss as it is , lol
GM made a 1000+ hp Ecotec power plant... how can they possibly say that they can't make improvements on the Z06 engine? lol.

because , 1 has to pass emissions , the other is full race
thats why
