Any suggestions or reviews on a Hyundai Elantra GT with the 8 Package, has pretty much everything. Looks like a decent car for that price with all the options.

Hyundai's quality is on par with other makers now and sometimes better, consumer reports said that the best car made last year was the Hyundai Sonata with 2 problems per 100 vehicles. Second place was the Civic with 6 problems per 100 vehicles. The cars are a great bang for the buck and with a great warranty to boot.

I test drove one last week. It was a 5 door with pak. 8 and it was a really nice car. The salesman told me that with the owners loyality rebate ( My wife has an 03 Elantra ) I can get about $4,500.00 off the sticker making the car around $13K. I think it is the best deal out there! The only problem is I really like the Scion Tc. I can't make up my mind which one I want. It should be a nobrainer since the Hyundai is about $4K cheaper and has the Ten year warranty.

I have an 03 Elantra GLS that I really like. It's a no thrills daily driver, and it's perfect for that. The GT adds a stiffer suspension (though barely noticable) plus 4 wheel disc brakes which is ALWAYS nice to have. I would have gone GT if I hadn't gotten such a killer deal on my GLS. All in all, it's a great car, especially when you compare it to the 2200 Cavi sedan I had before it. The Elantra has better pick-up, better gas milage, better ride/handling, and can actually pass cars on the highway without any problems. I can't complain with it at all.

If you're looking for a good solid reliable daily driver, the Elantra deffinitely fits that bill. If you're looking for a race car: forgett about it. There is a decent aftermarket for the ELantra, including a few turbo kits, and the car has LOTS of potential, but will never be a street demon!!

Basically, it all depends what you want. Like I said, if speed is your thing, you'd be better off looking elsewhere. If you just want a good looking reliable car with a fair aftermarket, than you can't get much better than the Elantra.

Um, no it doesn't. The engine stays the same between the GLS and the GT. The only major differences are the suspension and brakes. The Elantra (both trim levels) uses the same I4 as the base model Tibby, but that's it....

I doubt they'll ever put a V6 into the Elantra... That's why they have the Sonata...

Taken from Hyundaiusa.com:

Every Elantra features 2.0-liter DOHC engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT), 4- wheel independent suspension, available Super Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) certification and a full complement of standard airbag protection

The Elantra GT models offer European-derived sport suspension tuning, leather seating surfaces, purple-faced gauges, alloy wheels and blacked-out exterior trim for an athletic appearance, inside and out.

I've seen Elantras as low as $9500 for 4-door which still comes loaded. The GT adds even more goodies and I have seen it at $11K advertised.
Some may say "well that it's cheap and must be terrible in quality" (ignorance). JD Power said that it is the 3rd most reliable car manufacture for 2004(Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, GM). I had posted this a long time a ago, but I could not find my link.
But those are statistic, take a look and the materials, fit and content is high. The leather looks like from Lexus IS300 tight with a nice luster. The plastic are soft feel. Very much quality inside and out. As for performance, it is surprisingly peppy. I would rate it above average.
My ex gf had a 2001 and never seen the dealer for repairs, just maintenance.
Hyundai is a car worth to look at and Elantra should be doubled looked.

You may think I am being to radical. But the formula that Hyundai is using is the same as Honda's in the 80's. I forecast ten years from now Hyundai being in the spot next Honda in terms in size and recognition for the rest of the world.

Same here. I've had mine for a year and a half now, even took it from CT to FL and back after having it for 2 weeks (honeymoon), and all I"ve HAD to do is maintnance. I got new tires because I didn't care for the Michellins in the winter, but other than that, it's been the best damn car I've ever owned.

I love that car the first time I test drove it. Especially the stick shift is so smooth. You have to get a manual though, the automatic makes the engine loud.

No worries, bro. Just wanted to make sure Mike wasn't misinformed. I thought the GT came with a V6 when I first started looking, too, so it's a common mistake.

I have the auto (knees can't handle stick as daily driver), and I don't find the engine to be that loud. It is certainly louder than the Cavi was, but it's not obnoxious, either.

My dad is pretty much set on getting the GT 5 door, manual of course with package 8. He is pleased with the price and the overal look/feel of the car. He's a big guy and is glad there is some extra head and leg room.

Thanks for all the help!

actually i have a tiburon GT v6 love the car.. but ya about the 2.0 those are good also they can handle alot thrown at them. ive seen the 2.0 in the tibs with a turbo on it pushing 370whp so they do have just as much potential as the v6.
