Old School Chevette

Saw this 1976 Chevette Rally 1.6 at a car show last night. Thought you'd all get a kick out it. I love stuff like this, pretty rare bird. When's the last time you've seen a CHEVETTE at a car show?

Owned by a 16 year old kid who fixed it up after his brother said he was going to "demo derby" the car. If you see young kids with stuff like this, chat them up and encourage it. That's how we all get into the hobby.

Same here, Ecotec. My parents had a blue 78 Chevette just like that one (without the Rally package, but with the 1.6 "h.o." and turbine wheels. Then in 1984 they bought a 4 door Chevette with a 5 speed and AM radio. We actually took that bad boy from Chicago to Florida. I remember that trip very well. 90 degrees, windows down, stuff in our lap. It was a riot!

The diesels were also good cars. I rode in one up to the North Woods of Wisconsin when I was in junior high. I think we made it there and back without stopping for gas.
But they ran very well. I would love to get my hands on one in really good shape. If I see one for $500 or so I'll be all over it.

Nice scooter. I used to have an 86 auto. The car would never die. Gave it a fresh paint job and new rims. My first car.

Me and my room mates were looking for a chevette to small block this summer, but we want to find one that's rotten and dirt cheap. Couldn't find any around here like that.

Evansville- Sure is.

I had my 86 RS there, nothing special. Saw another two 3rd gen Z24's, a 95 and a 97 I think.

But its a great show. 1st Friday of every month. Best thing is...its free!
