My dad is thinking about a few cars, the acura TL, TSX, the audi A4, the volvo s40, v50, subaru forester, etc... He is now taking a liking to the voice nav systems in some of them, any suggestions on one of the cars I mentioned or a similar?
Acura TL!!! I work with 2 owners and they love them. 8 inch flat screen Navi. Noice!!

well just to let you know the tl and tsx aren't awd, they're fwd.
There are rumors that a TL Type S is going to be produced with the RL's SH AWD.. of course last I heard it was only a rumor.

A little? Yeah... a $10,000 little... hehehe
The TSX is just an upscale Accord. The TL on the other hand... hot stuff. But it is also a little over the 32k mark, just not nearly as much as the Lexus.
Oh and the Subaru is damn ugly as sin.
Legacy GT is very nice and AFFORDABLE
I too love the G35X but it may be over 32k not sure.
2004 WR Blue/silver STi

Oh, I did not realize that, yeah I agree, BORING.
A turbo sedan with no 5spd?
I guess now I'd say G35X.
Funny how fast I change my mind.

NO NO NO. The G35X is AUTO only. The Scoobie comes in 5speed of course.

sure thing.. I am picking myself up a 5sp Legacy GT limited this weekend..
white with black leather... mmmmmmm so nice..
250hp awd..
bob: the tsx has no relationship to the U.S. Accord, it is based one the euro R accord in Europe. It is actually smaller then the U.S. acord, that is why there is no option for the v-6.
Throw another $1k at the Leg GT and your gonna be close to 300 HP at the crank. I got mine last august, trust me i don't regret it one bit!
I drove all these cars.
TSX - although nice, just didn't have enough power for me. Plain and simple.
TL - Nice car! However, there was definetly a good amount of torque steer. No doubt this will likely be over 32k as well for a nicely loaded one. Might be able to find a good deal though. This combined with FWD, just didn't do it for me, especially for the winters.
G35 + G35x - First the AWD only comes in auto, which sucks. Definetly would have gotten the RWD. Sweet car. Love what they did with the interior in the new ones, the made some needed changes IMO. Again, definetly pushing low - mid 30's though. Can't go wrong with that engine though, its certainly tried and true.
S40 t5 - not a fan of the interior. Descent car though. No 5 spd available when i was purchasing for the AWD version.
A4 - not a fan of Audi / VW reliability, I have seen it first hand too many times. Under a warranty though, so somewhat ok. I have heard some good things about the new A4. 2.0t. Again you are looking at over 30k easily.
Legacy GT - Obviously i liked this one cause i bought one. Great bang for the buck really. It doesn't have all the gadgets and gizmos as say most of those other cars, but for me i didn't really need it. 5 spd is split full time 50 / 50 AWD. 250 HP, 250 torque. Trust me its slightly underated. probably closer to 260 HP, 270 TQ. This thing just sticks and goes. The tires leave something to be desired, they aren't a great choice for the car. They can get squirely and aren't the greatest in the snow, but you can't expect that much from an all season. This is partly the reason for some comments on the brakes. Trust me though, put a different set on and you would be amazed. Completly different feel. Descent aftermarket if your into it as well.
Thank you for clearing that up, I'm not a Suby guru, but I would think that they would offer a manual option, glad to hear, now I'm back with my first choice.
Legacy GT.
I still do really like the RWD G35 coupe with a manual.
Check out LegacyGT.com for some good discussion about it if you are interested.
G35 is nice, i like the new ones. Not a fan of their AWD systems though. Definetly would go with the RWD version. For me though, i needed a solid winter car as well. LGT >G35 in that aspect definetly.
Depending on your time table, might want to wait and check out the new Lexus IS350. RWD with a reported 320 HP. This will no doubt be a sweet car. They are certainly going to make up for underpowering the current IS300. I expect this to be a sweet car, although it will probably be low to mid 30's since its a brand new model.
God, I wish I had money, or a job test driving cars.
