Okay, my friend says that Firbirds (94 and up) come with V8s as well as V6, and that Trans Ams are just upgraded interior packages...I always though Firebird=V6 and Trans Am=V8. Any insight on this from anyone...i'm sure theres someone out there (espically Borsty).
Why do they call it a love seat when its so hard to make love on?
Firebird = v6, firebird forumula = v8, trans am = v8
i think.
BTW, the very early firebirds did come with a v8 but i assume u are talking of the newer ones. Tell him the WS6 Trans-Am has a v10.

Which Trans Ams or Formulas came with 365hp? I will have to watch out for those...
Rob
Sold 2/2/05
i thought that gen f-bods peaked at 325hp
^ Unless it was a special edition like Mecham or Berger. Or it included a special SLP intake and exhaust on the SS and WS6.
/me waits for Borsty to rattle off Suspension differences and 2nd/3rd Gen power ratings...

you wont see to many, most peeked at 335 hp (but the ls1 vette engines were rated 350hp, and ummmm lets just say that their isnt much difference between the two
)
the 02 special edition trans am ws6 got, an composite intake and something esle boosting the power.
not sure if the 35th anniversary or watever the last year of the camaro got one.

^^^^now thats a real trans am. not some beat up 80s "trans am" if it even deserves that title.

go drive your ricer piece of @!#$ acura into a brick wall and 120 mph, make sure u disabled the airbag, and arent wearing a seatbelt either.

Thats a FireChicken.
...and really, GM factor ratings on the LS1 mean squat. They are advertisement gimmecks. The real performance difference between F-Body's and Vette's (and between F-Body's as well) comes down to weight differences and option packages.
I couldn't care less what option code or package my F-Body has... as long as it has an LS1 I am happy. It will be fast.

What's funny is that the base model z28's and formulas are faster than the ss's and TA's.

Ok just thought i would clear things up... max hp the 98-02 trans ams came with was 325hp (335hp depending on your elevation) .... i don't know where you are getting 365hp.... there were no production trans am's that came with 365hp at the wheels.... We have a 2002 WS6 trans am , and stock it dynoed at 325hp at the wheels. Special edition (yellow ones) did not come with more hp, only thing was yellow, and some other cosmetic stuff...
Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that 325hp would equate to 373 at the flywheel (which is what official ratings are). So, if the drivetrain loss were 10.9%, that would mean that 325whp would be 365 flywheel hp. Just something to think about...or something...I guess.

If you want i can try and find all the dyno sheets.... and we dynoed at a very reliable place... Daven Port here in Calgary Alberta... they basically only work on F-bodies
all second gens came with 8's. as small as 301 to the 455. i know my 79 formula came with a 403 from factory. i seriously wish we had the engine options like they did back on the old days.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
