am i missing something is that turbo mounted in the rear ? is that anygood ?
Seems to be good if he is putting down 500+hp at 8 psi.
Anyways, I would rather have the civic. Damn that thing is fast. I got to buy myself one of those someday and go a nice engine swap.
i remember reading a write up on the rear mounted turbo, with it being mounted to the rear the heat is a lot less plus you still need to run a intake pipe back to the intercooler..just there alone cools down the air temp, not as much compared to the intercooler but you get my point...and theres loads of space in the real
It's all about power to weight.

I'm disappointed
Camaro needs to up the boost!!!!
Rear mounted turbos are a lot easier to setup because all you need is the piping off the headers, Heat is kept to a minimum, and if you have a jet-hot type coating on the pipes, it's all the better because heat stays in the pipe (ie. faster turbine spooling). As well, the intake pipes get the benefit of more time to cool without the pressure drop associated with an intercooler, and it takes a little less time to pressurise the system vs a large intercooled setup.
You can retain an intercooler if you'd like.
The only down side (not really one, but potential) is that you have to use a inline oil pump.
I don't know also, if there is a problem with noise, because the rear turbo kits I've seen took the place of a muffler, and you'd need to cut out the resonator (and possibly the Catalytic converters) in order to keep the pressure impediments down.
That's possibly also why the Camaro could only run 8lbs boost.

No specs/info on the civic??
505 w.h.p. in a Maro is probably good for *at least* low 11's.
Why dosen't anybody race from a dig anymore?
hmmmm just think how it would be for both of them from a stop

cause thats all the hondas can win from.

ha ha that was cool, it was like a fast hissing fight.
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.
No no no, it's not just a 1900 pound Civic. A hatch with a GSR swap and a 55 shot still wouldn't beat a Turbo SS, it would probably just take a stock one. Maybe if that was a race against a stock SS or something I could see the argument, there's no excuse when it's a freaking turbocharged Camaro SS. The Civic deserves some props for that, but I guess that's against the V8 club membership. Sure the Camaro might have crossed the 1/4 mile line first if from a dig, but I bet money that Civic would trap a higher mph, probably by at least 5mph, so which car is faster? Sure you can say driver plays a part and it's not your fault that the Civic driver can't launch from a dig (since the main reason the Camaro would win from a dig is because of no traction from the Civic), but a driver can't make that car going any faster across the line, regardless of launch or 60ft time. I ran a 9.5 in the 1/8 at 75mph, next up I got a horrible launch and ran a 10.7 but I still crossed the line at 75mph. Trap speed at least deserves some consideration in a 1/4 mile race, and that Civic would be trapping higher than that Camaro.
what all does that civ have in it haha cause i'd love to do the same to mine.
I'd still take the Camaro any day.

speed isnt everything, torque is.
