Well, i just did. I went to the dealer for a test drive the day after I took the RSX-S out. When i got there there was a midget salesperson who asked what car i was interested in. I told him the RX-8 he says "sweet!, I'm going to get my shoes and we'll take her out." He come back with PLATFORM SHOES (i swear I'm not making this up). He then proceeded to get in the drivers seat (I'm thinking to myself there's no way he's going to reach the pedals) Then he slides the seat so far up that his nose is resting on the steering wheel.
He starts to drive out the lot and i buckle up. He squeals the tires out the corner and spins them through 2nd gear before slamming on the breaks at a car stopped at a red light.
We switch so i can drive the car as well. I stall the damn thing,and am kind of embarrassed because I'm 5'9 and hes' like 4'5 and didn't stall it.
Anyway, i get used to the clutch friction point and we're off. Shifting at 9000RPM's and breaking the tires loose nearly every gear; It is at this point i realise this is an awesome car! The seats are really comfortable and the interior is tasteful and unique. The throws are short and the gearbox smooth (with the exception that 3rd seems like there is not much room for error when shifting fast, but i could have been unfamiliarity). I didn't notice the so called poor low end torque,probably because I was shifting at very high RPM's and always gunning it. I think this may end up being very bad on gas, partially because you have too much fun driving it hard.
I get on the highway and there are slow cars blocking up both lanes. He looks at me and says, "it's a good thing I'm not driving or I'd be looking for some holes in traffic". So i take his suggestion and drop it into 3rd, scoot into an offramp lane and then back around to pass the slow cars. I have i little room so i floor it and get to just over 200kms/hr before i need to slow for traffic.
We get to an off ramp and he tells me gun it down the turn so i do. When i get to the bottom where we merge with traffic (but we have our own lane) I'm going about 120kms and this old topaz pulls into my lane without signaling. I slam on the breaks and switch into the left lane, drop it a gear and pass the topaz. Then i see the midget pull himself up on the window and flip the guy in the topaz off.
This was the best test drive ever, an awsome car and the midget was the coolest person i know. I wish i was cool enough to be his friend.

how many miles were on the car? Thats one reason why i never buy brand new cars with more than just a few miles on them. I really dont think thats too good for a car during break in but whatever

Rx-8's do get really bad gas mileage though, my neighbors gets about 12-13 mpg w/ pretty easy driving.

People who says this car no grunt down low has not driven one. The car I test tracked was auto though, either way it moved. The car (has) to be driven in a closed course, if not your not feeling this car's engineering. This car's handling can put a BMW to shame.
Which is why I am looking at this car my self, that and the Rotary engine sold me.
Like one mentioned, they get poor gas mileage 15mpg when driven hard about 18-20mpg on easy driving. You have to constantly watch the oil too, as it burns it off quick, almost to the point you never have to do a oil change, since you're putting in new oil. lol

No! If you're going to spend that much on a car you want to know how it performs, and the only way to test it is to push it. Now, if a self proclaimed "high performance vehicle" can't handle being pushed hard for 15 mins then it shouldn't be in production.
Also anyone else who drives that car is also going to be driving it the same way before they drop their hard earned cash on it. And then when they do buy it do you think they are not going to drive it hard? I drive my cars like i stole them, right out of the box, and i've never had an engine problem.
