nice, very nice
except for that fake-ass transmission
Here is another link to pictures and a article about it:

That rear end is pretty slick looking. I still would love to have an M3 though. I get soooo jealous when newer E46's pass by me. Maybe one day when the new E90's come out, the E46's would drop low enough that I could actually afford one.
Have a good one,
Justin

if i'm buying that car, i want a clutch pedal... forget the extra gear.
just becuase it doesnt have a clutch pedal doesnt mean its a fake transmission. The SMG will shift faster and you can, automatically rev match on downshifts and it has Launch Control that would probably launch that 500hp V10 much better than you could. When you are driving cars a little faster than a cavalier its also nice to be able to keep both hands on the wheel while shifting. Dont get me wrong I love convetional manual transmissions however the SMG-II is probably the most advanced transmission on a stock production car that you can buy. I would hardly call it fake just becuase its not your preference.

not feelin those headlights
why the hell would you pay that kinda money for a car , just to open the trunk and see your spare help down by a 50 cent strap
the outside looks ok
with all the bmw's ive ever driven not on has ever impressed me enough to even consider purchasing 1
and ive alot from the 3 series to the 8 series , M series , to the big luxo liner with the V10 or 12 (which ever is in the better 8 series model)
all though i can say it was fun stalling 1 at a light about a half dozen times , tell i figued out it was in the snow mode for manual shift , LOL

it may be able to do everything that i can do better, plus wipe my ass, but guess what, i still don't like it. maybe i think a little bit too old-school, but if i want a shift-it-yourself auto, i'll put a manual valve body in my car. there's just something about driving a car, and not letting the car drive you. think about it, how hard is it to smash the gas pedal and push a button? a freaking monkey could do that! now, think of the perfect launch - quickly feathering out the clutch, getting a little tire spin, and then grabbing second, breaking it loose a little. it's much more satisfying than hitting the gas and going. i should know, i have a car that involves no driving skill at all. this transmission is the equivalent of putting a delay box on a drag car - it takes all the challenge out of driving.
and about that whole two hands on the wheel issue:

if a "lowly" chrysler can be engineered to track straight at 150, i think a bimmer can also
but what would i know, i have quite possibly the most basic form of transportation on the road
Ill take the smg over a manual anyday, and i love my 5 speed.I was on a test drive in a e46 m3 with the smg. That is one sick car.It was so fast it was scary. The shift paddles on the steering wheel are awsome.I can only imagine how fast the m6 is gonna be with the smg.I cant wait for a test drive.I dont really care for the body style though.I like the e39 m5 body better.

you bring up a point about tracking straight at 150......but when you have a powerful car, and you smash into 2nd....it don't always stay straight...once you get rollin...yeah you don't need it...but once you're rollin, do you really have any shifts left? at 150, very few cars on the road still have another gear after 150

im almost 100% sure that the car does not come with that spare tire and strap stock
its too bad you cant recognize a great car when you drive one. I would take any generation any model M car over my cavalier any day. And yes I have owned just about every M car except for the e39 M5. And i was the v12 in the 850. This is the first V10 that BMW has made outside of Formula One and it will be used only on the M5 and M6
as far as the chrysler tracking straight at 150. Thats not the point the advantage of not taking you hands off the wheel to shift is seen while cornering.

once again the SMG is FAAAAAR more advanced that your usual shift it yourself automatic. It behaves and operates completely differently. Drive a REAL smg and then we can talk. your comparisons between SMG and your auto with a manual valve box are ridiculous. But just so you know the e60 M5 is supposedly going to be sold in the United States with a conventional manual transmission. We will be the only country that receives the conventional manual
I think the M6 is an awesome car however I do prefer the M5. To me it is just much more practical for a lower price with nearly identical performance.
