Hummer H3 pricing

Bring out the checkbook.

Three years after the debut of its now-famous H2, HUMMER is preparing to unleash its next major market launch – the all-new midsize H3.

Initial H3 units will hit U.S. dealerships in mid-May, with an introductory base price of $29,500.

Kicking off the launch this weekend, HUMMER will begin an advertising and promotion campaign giving consumers a preview of the new H3.

On April 22 in New York City, HUMMER and ESPN will present the official NFL Draft Pre-Party hosted by football star Jonathon Vilma (New York Jets) and BET personality Darrien (Big Tigga) Morgan. In addition, HUMMER will have H3 vehicle displays and special NFL draft viewing parties for football fans at several ESPN Zone restaurants in major U.S. cities. Throughout the weekend, HUMMER will air a new TV spot previewing the H3 on ESPN’s NFL Draft telecast and debut an exclusive online ad on HUMMER.com.

“ESPN and sports in general are natural outlets to reach HUMMER customers, said Liz Vanzura, HUMMER marketing director. “The NFL Draft is extremely popular among our target customers and is the perfect place to showcase the H3.”

When the H3 arrives in showrooms, HUMMER will rollout additional ads focused on the vehicle’s authentic design, off-road capability and midsize dimensions.

“In a market full of ordinary SUVs, H3 is an extraordinary new presence,” said Susan Docherty, HUMMER general manager. “Our marketing launch for the H3, will extend HUMMERs position in the market of being truly ‘Like Nothing Else’.”

The H3 marks the brand’s first entry into the midsize SUV market. For HUMMER, a new midsize SUV means a new target customer and a new twist on its well-recognized ad campaign.

“H3 will appeal to a slightly younger and more diverse group of customers with a base price starting at $29,500 and a size that puts it in the heart of the midsize utility segment,” said Docherty. “Though more approachable, H3 is a serious off-road machine, just like its siblings the H1 and H2.”

H3 advertising kicks off with the introduction of two new ads. “Vertigo,” airing during the NFL Draft, showcases the experiential nature of the brand and features a younger, more active H3 customer. At the same time, “Game Over” debuts exclusively on HUMMER.com and highlights H3’s off-road performance through actual test-footage shot during the final stages of vehicle development.

“Game Over represents a shift in our strategy toward more online advertising,” said Vanzura. “The H3 target customer is extremely web-savvy and relies heavily on the Internet for up-to-date information on the things that interest them.”

H3 advertising begins in earnest in mid-May as vehicles start arriving at dealerships. New ads will air throughout the summer and into the fall.

H3 Base MSRP: $29,500

H3’s introductory price includes standard equipment such as full-time electronic four-wheel drive, GM’s award-winning OnStar safety and communication system, and a 5-speed manual transmission, a first for HUMMER. H3 is also covered by HUMMER’s premium four-year/50,000-mile warranty plan.

H3 will be available with two optional packages – Adventure and Luxury. The Adventure Series includes key off-road performance equipment such as huge 33-inch tires, a 4:1 electronic transfer case and locking rear differential. The Luxury Series includes amenities such as heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Adventure and Luxury series can be combined, as well, for a truck offering the best of both worlds.

Options such as four-speed automatic transmission, sunroof, XM Satellite Radio, 6-disc CD changer and Monsoon speakers are available throughout the complete H3 range.

Too big of a monster for me.

I would love to see the people that actually buy it take it on some trails, it would be hard to hit any tight obstacles because you are going to slam the body in every tree branch you encounter, it would be decent for some wide open trails but most are pretty tight, atleast around my area.

Have a good one,
Justin

Still need more power. Isn't it supposed to have the inline-5 from the Colorado?

no, it IS a Colorado/Canyon. same suspension, same frame, same motor, different body. it's like a cavalier/sunfire, except a little less extreme (at least they use different doors)

Derived from the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, the H3 shares those trucks' body-on-frame construction; double-A-arm and torsion-bar front and leaf-spring rear suspension systems; and 220-hp, 3.5-liter DOHC 20-valve all-aluminum inline five-cylinder Vortec engine (the only engine offered).

Ive always liked hummers. I prefer the old ones better, the new ones are getting old as im looking out my office window at one. This new one is a bit smaller, so im "assuming" that it gets better gas mileage. Of course, ill never own one (unless i win the lottery, then ill have an H1 in every color ; ) ) so im not worried about it either way. My opinion still stands from the other day, id much rather have a Nissan Pathfinder

yeah that is true, I know a guy that works at the proving grounds. He told me its the same platform, last I knew they were working on fuel shut off in the event of a collision.

The difference is that the H3 is a completely different vehicle all together. Its much smaller than the H2, slightly larger than the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon on which its based.

People like to bash Hummers for their huge size and lackluster fuel economy, but the problem is not with the vehicles themselves, but with the people who buy them.

Hummers are designed for off-road driving - hence the massive tires, full underbody protection, advanced 4WD system, and excellent approach/Departure angles - yet 9/10 times you see a Hummer it is being driven on the highway. GM can't control what people use them for, they just sell them for their intended purpose and the customer can do what they want from there - which may or may not suite the vehicles intended purpose.

From what I've personally seen, Hummer's are actually excellent off-road vehicles, despite their size. A Hummer H2 is easily as good as a Wrangler Rubicon, its just a matter of having a trail that can accommodate a vehicle of its size

damn, i have always liked the H1, and now seeing those H2's everywhere, now that they have a cheaper one, I'm going to be seeing soccer mom's with H3's everywhere oh well. I'll probably still look into buying one if I buy an SUV next.

Everyone is screaming for the H1 but have any of you ever had to work on them? Yea its not fun at all. I work on 5-6 of them a week. Its a half a day project just doing disc brake pads all the way around on it. Thats if you know what you're doing and dont jack around. Not to mention they are freaking huge and have almost no room. Get horrible gas mileage. Ride like @!#$ and are expensive in everything you do.

They do kick serious ass offroad though =P

Re: Hummer H3 pricing

Yes these POS does not help with the gas prices at all. But it will sell because it is a Hummer and it priced more affordably.

But like Connan O'Brian said when he went over to Iraq:
"Hummers (H1) should only be used for the Military and nowhere else, because in the states, guys buy them to compensate for their short penis."
