A buddy of mine gave me a 1992 Acura Integra coupe with the 1.8 and a 5 speed. I know absolutely nothing about imports. Does anyone know of good sites with info on modding and engine swaps and things of that nature? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't recommend an engine swap. I mean what would you swap the engine to?
Sorry I dont know much about integra sites. Just try a search on google.

I was thinking about swapping the engine to an H22 which i believe is a prelude engine or a B20 which is the engine out of a Honda CRV. a friend of mines younger brother did the B20 swap and had a ridiculous amount of torque. The car was an automatic and it would still launch off the line like a bat out of hell.

b18 is damn near as good as a b20. throw a b16 head on your b16 and youll have ls vtec. badass engine. get a b16 lsd tranny too.
^Yea he's right. Pretty sure he meant b16 head on your b18 though. LS-Vtec owns jo0! lol. Thats my recommendation. For the money you would spend on a B20 swap you could make that b18 a lot faster then a b20
92-93 Integras are my favorite Hondas. It's got great body lines, OBDI, disc brakes all around, and a motor full of potential that can be modified in almost any manner.
i always wanted a 90-93 Integra GS for a winter car... but their still too damn expensive, some people are asking upwards of $8000 and more for them... thats way too much, considering most have over 200,000kms... and yes i do know this had nothing to do with this thread but i just had to say that...

Someone told me that the 1.8 that comes in it is a D18 if so what is the difference between a B18 and D18?
A few people have told me to do that B16 top end with the B18 bottom end thing.
Is it really a badass engine?
Its not a D18. Not sure they even make a D18. Its a B18 and I am positive because all B series motors have interchangeable parts (like legos) thats why you can do a head swap.
Yes a B16 head on a b18 is awesome.
I should add that its probably one of your best bets for an all motor not so much for a turbo. The b18 LS motor has high compression then a B16 or a b18C1 motor. With a b18A and a b16 head do Type R cams (b18C5 cams) I/H/E short throw shifter and my god you'll be hauling some major ass. I guarntee you'll smoke your friends B20
LS VTEC vs "CRV-TEC" (B20). If both swaps were done the same (Both using the same head) and both ran perfectly I'd give the edge to the B20. More torque down low from the 2.0L than the 1.8L along with both of them having the same GSR/Si VTEC top end.
So...Theoretically i can just rebuild the B18 in it already with the hotter cams and throw the B16 head on it, and put in a short throw kit on the stock 5-speed and be a rocket?
What kind of times would i be looking at for a quarter mile?
It will be built for speed so no sound system or any other unnecessary crap.
Also ºÇãVî§pÉëк how much of a difference is it between the ls-vtech and the
crv-tech? A drivers race or more?
Dont quote me exactly, but with a B16 head, and your basic bolt-ons, plust cams and a shifter i'd say mid 14's easy. Maybe low 14's. Depends on traction and how well you drive etc... etc...
Pretty much a driver's race. The swap is pretty much identical, B20 gives you a slightly larger bore, which gives it the larger displacement (2.0 vs 1.8) which in turn gives you a little more torque. I would say a well built correctly running LS-VTEC/B20 VTEC would easily be 14's. It is a project though.
LS VTEC is a pretty easy mod. B20 VTEC is not worth it if you've already got a decent LS motor. Sure it has more torque and would be newer, but it has it's share of problems. The valve reliefs aren't as deep (restricting the amt of retard and advance you can do to the distributor), and supposedly the sleeves are thinner and more prone to crack (though I haven't run into that problem yet and my B20 is turboed).
Lots of these "frankenstein" motors will have oil or coolant leaks, but well built ones are pretty impressive. With basic LS VTEC/B20 VTECs I've seen anywhere from High 15 to low 13 sec passes depending on the condition of the motor, type of head used, the transmission, and the tires.
IMO, stick with the B18A. Check your compression to make sure the rings and stuff are still decent. Get a good set of cams and proper valvetrain components, Fuel management, and a B16 transmission w/ a quaiffe.
