Hi guys, i traded in my cav for a 97 vw golf 2.0. 8v. The GL model. The car runs great, 50k on the clock. But there seems to be a small problem. When i shut off the car, it sounds the the engine of a jet shutting off. You know what i mean? The turbine slowing down. If anyone has any info on this problem, i really appreciate it. Thank you

You probably just have the jet engine cool-down option installed. I believe that was a standard option on the '97s.

He's just yanking your chain. Sounds like it could just be the fan spinning down. How loud is it?

i asked in another forum, and they are saying the same, lol. Some said its normal, some not. Its pretty loud, like with the hood closed, i could hear it from about 25 feet away. And its simliar to what you would hear at an airport, with the engines shutting down. Thanks for all the help guys.

A friend of mine had a '96 Jetta 2.8l that would do the exact same thing. I would always ask him to turn that s**t off, but he said it was helpless
maybe, just maybe somebody stuffed a turbo in there. get a turbo timer!
get a vid clip of it.
sorry guys, i dont have anything i can get a clip of it with. I dont have a camera or anything that records sounds. But ill ask around and try to get something. Thanks again for the help.
