ok, i have a friend with a v6 mustang that has 112k on it, and she would sell it to me for five hundred bucks becuase she got her a new car anyway, this was her daily driver, anyway i went through it and its pretty much cherry exept for a few dings and such. i was woundering what it would take to drop a v8 in it.
here are the specs:
1998 auto, black, i want to put in a five speed with the 4.6l v8, what would this cost, and how time consuming? also should i change the rear end? also if i had to keep it an auto what mods could i do to tranny aside from a stall converter. i also want it to be streetable.

500? thats not bad.. really cheap price actually.. lol you could just trade it in for a fox body 5.0

it all depends on your wallet man. the things you should change off the top of my head, if it were me would be.....
1 - the rear end. a v-6 has a 7.5 rear & a v8 stang has a pretty sturdy 8.8.
2 - the fuel system
the rest is obvious in the engine & exhaust setup. you could get a stock engine & tranny for 2k if you looked around. & if you can do the work yourself that's gunna save alot. if you want a very nice setup, be preparred to spend about $15k on a very nice, powerful motor & fuel system. if you are going for a full rear end build it'll cost about at least 500 + for a stocker. then if you wanna build that it'll be about another grand (welded tq boxes, gears, axles, labor etc.....) so it all realy depends on how much you want / have to spend. if you have any more questions feel free to ask
broke & rebuilding...... mwuahahahaha
you can build up a pretty mean v6
ive seen them at the track pulling 11's and 12's
buy it whether u want a new engine or not, you could turn around and make profit.

a 98? for 500 bucks? thats such a steal it aint funny... i think id just sink some money into that v6... no one would expect it from a v6 or you could always sell it to me
Check out my build thread!
yeah i'm thinking of selling it for 3500, she promised she would sell it to me for 500, also she just doesn't care what i do with. so i am thinking either dsm, older fox body, can't find an lt1 camaro at least 93-99. or selling both cars and my 2.4 block and getting
a........well what would you guys do with nearly 6.5k u.s.

It is alot work. On top of the engine tranny and what you need it to run right (supporting wiring, fuel systems, igition systems etc.) you will need suspension and brakes also! Unless you are prepared to do all the work yourself and scrounge for parts for some time don't do it. Me I'd keep around a extra daily driver they arent bad on gas and semi fun to drive.
95 Cobra

thats why i would sell it, i spent a good amount of the day looking through mustang forums and got diascouraged, becuase i could buy a 93 gt for as much as selling this one, so thats why i want to combine my funds and buy a new car, i hate the fact that my z24 is an auto, and the fact that i could buy an 93 mr2 turbo for 5000, and have an extra bit of money for whatever.
these are my choices for cars:
93 mr2 turbo
93 prelude si
94 camaro lt1(found it few minuets ago)
94 honda civic hatch with a b18 swap(not likely i'm too big)
93 gsx
94 fwd tsi
97 riviera(pimpin) also seen these run 14.3s with a few mods here in okc not bad for boat
2002 ecotec cavy or saturn ion, five speed(project car)
89 5.0 mustang (expolice intercepter)
95 celica gt(make it a show car)
a healthy down payment on a 2002 spec-v
98 gtp

94 camaro lt1, trust me u wont be disappionted.
a LT4 kit from edelbrock, and u got 420 NA hp.

yeah believe your right, plus they hold value when they are hooked up.
and yes TA's are cool.

i was also thinking of the mid 90's celica, becuase they have a motor swap that puts a 230 hp turbo motor into it and its a direct swap, tranny bolts right up, and the fuel pump is the same. also the motor mounts are in the same place, and with bigger injectors and the supra fuel pump, with a S-AFC you can crank the hp up to close to 300hp and yes this is at the wheels.
the only downside about these generations of the celica are that they don't rev high, they rev about the same as us cavys, and they are pretty much treated the same way by dame near everyone else, one more plus side is that they are never expected of that motor by other tuners, and that make them easy to make money off of, and they require almost no maintanence, just the regular stuff.

98 GTP is my vote. Easy and "inexpensive" to make them quick.

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors
'97 GTP 14.06@100.6mph pre cam w/ 3.5" pulley, I/E
