Cobalt SS invoice price ?
Monday, April 18, 2005 7:56 AM
So i stopped in at the local chevy dealer and asked if the cobalt SS came in yet. I was in there a week ago asking about it and gave him my # to call me when one comes in.

Anyways, he showed me the folder of sheets on what cars are coming in and when . He showed me the paper for the Cobalt SS that is coming in, and that it is RED. What he didnt realize is that it showed the invoice price of $20,600 on that sheet and i got a quick glance at that.

I wonder how much they will mark up the price.

Red is a nice color

Anyway, expect to pay around the same as an SRT-4, or around $24,000 to $25,000.... or you could say the same as I paid for my GTO lol

I was told 26,880 for the fully loaded SS with every possible option. Recaro package and all.. hmm.... i think for that price i would look into getting a BMW 300 series. or a base wrx.

you can get a srt-4 for 1k more. what great deal this cobalt is turning out to be. its slower, heavier, smaller inside, larger outside, and gets worse gas milage than its replacement. so is this supposed to be an improvement?

but it can run on 87

also it can outhandle the srt-4

140hp and 87 oct. or 230fwhp with 93. which would you rather have. i'll deal with the 20 extra cent per gallon thanks. and no way in hell it handles better. the ss only handles better becouse of the larger wheels and better tires. put 18's and perelli's on the srt-4 and the tables will turn.

Um, heloo? It isn't some kind of secret! You can see invoice price at edmunds.com or MSN autos or a lot of other sites.

Wow you are a complete moron "anal rape" . Thats got to be the most retarded username I have ever seen on the JBO.

If you have no clue what you are talking about (which obviously you don't) why bother saying anything at all, all you do is make yourself look like an ass, which you probably are anyway.

Yah, putting 18 inch rims on your car will make your car handle better, I guess them SCCA guys are just doing it all wrong!

perellis?? Is that a walmart brand performance tire knockoff?

wow, just because they say you "can" run 87 doesnt mean you should. the srt could run on 87 also, BUT its not a good idea. theres no quesitons about it, the srt4 is better for modding (unless you have gm's bank account) it will be faster mod for mod 99.999% of the time. so if you like the looks better then get the cobolt, if you like a reliable 14.5-15.0 second car, get the cobalt if you want a quicker car get the srt4.

dave- i didnt research at all. I am sure u could have found invoice price. But i was curious what others knew about the MSRP.

who was the stupid @!#$er that brought the SRT 4 into this? someone should kick u in the head. (not dissing the srt 4, i am a huge fan of them)

Re: Cobalt SS invoice price ?

i hate you.... i hate you all lol.

The anti-Cobalt fans make stuff up as they go, and the pro-cobalt guys don't know enough about anything to make a reasonable argument, hense making them and the rest of look like @!#$s lol.

okay....

The Cobalt handles better, not because of bigger wheels and tires, but because the suspension (even though it's not independent) was tuned to take corners better than the competition. Not too many people actually argue this point, I don't know why it came up.

The SRT-4 is faster... It's true, I'm not going to argue about that, but I'm hoping that GM makes some wise decisions and replicates Mopar's "stage kit" idea. I would like to see a "stage 1 kit" including the reflash that everyone talks about, because lets see an SRT-4 keep up with a reflashed Cobalt pushing 270hp. I know it's not likely, but hey, I can hope right?

87 octane.... As much as I would love to think that the Cobalt SS would run right on 87 octane, GM says it plane as day that if you use 87 the driver will experience SIGNIFICANT loss of power. If i'm paying 20k+ on a sports car, i don't want a loss of power.

Daily driving... I have not driven either, and I believe that you can't rely on magazines to buy a car, but.... from what I've read.... the Cobalt SS is a much better car for daily driving, with a more refined interior, higher comfort levels, and better gearing for daily driving, the Cobalt is a more practical car around town.

So my verdict is.... if you're too cheap to buy 93 octane, don't buy a SS. If you want a car that drives in a straight line like a bat out of hell.... buy the SRT-4. If you want a sport compact car and like the Neon, buy the Neon, if you like the Cobalt, buy the Cobalt.

I'm sick of arguing about SRT-4 vs Cobalt SS, because no matter what anyone says no one will agree. Buy one, race your friend, and see who wins. But seriously quit arguing because you're really making everyone look dumb. lol

i wonder how the srt with the acr package will handle compared to the cobalt, its basically the same thing, just an option alot like the lsd.
Re: Cobalt SS invoice price ?
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 6:51 AM
i'm saying the only reason the cobalt ss handles better is becouse of the larger wheels and better tires. there's ony like a couple mph differance in the slalom, in favor of the cobalt, if you took the wheels and tires of it and put them on the neon the tables will turn. the neon will have the slight advantage. the balt has p-zero's compared the the crappy kdw's on the neon.

i think at least it is the domestic big names coming out with cool stuff. Honda/nissan/VW(well pricey R32) as of lately doesnt offer anything like GM or Mopar do

so for 20k$ dollars at least u have your choice on a decent FWD .

Re: Cobalt SS invoice price ?

rsx-s owns cobalt.
Re: Cobalt SS invoice price ?
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 7:54 AM
the cobalt's suspension was tuned at nurburgring to handle better

the rsx-s costs more than the cobalt w/ less options
so screw that

and you do realize that the motor can make power past redline

but they set it to where its at because they didnt have time to fully test for a good redline before the ion redline came out

Re: Cobalt SS invoice price ?
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 10:28 AM
Why does the RSX-S own the Cobalt??? Please enlighten me. And you're wrong about wheels and tires by the way... but I'm done arguing because you obviously are retarded
