or lease... .
General Motors is offering lease customers in some parts of the country the chance to return their cars if they're not satisfied, the Detroit News reported
The pilot program, called "Freedom Lease," runs through the end of June in California; Atlanta, Ga.; Boston, Mass.; Providence, R.I.; Baltimore, Md.; and Washington D.C. It allows customers who lease a Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G6 or Buick LaCrosse to return the car within the first 12,000 miles if they are not satisfied, with no further obligation.
However, a $1,500 down payment made in cash or trade would be forfeited.
If the program is successful, GM may consider making it available in more areas, the story said.

that sounds like an awesome idea, I know a lot of people with headaches from leases or what not (NOT just gm) and this would make things a lot easier
speaking from a management view (I can do that now I have a degree) - I think this is an awesome spin on leases and will work well.

yea that might work pretty well.....i know if i leased cars i would def consider a GM for this reason
I know one thing they are doing to aid sales of the Cobalt-----delaying the release of the 2.2L Ecotec supercharger kit.
but back to the topic (I am just bitter).....GM sounds like they are thinking about the customer a little more, which is definitely going to boost sales.
yeah but who really has any real gripes with a car in the first 12,000 miles? seriously? it's after that first year when the squeaks and rattles and spun rod bearings and whatnot that people are thinking....what the hell did i just get myself into?
if they give you a cool down period of a year from purchase, then we'd be talking and it's be worth lossing my $1500 to get a rid of a crappy GM product when they really start to have trouble. but most people put on 12,000 miles in a few short months. i think if they get loads of rattling, creaking, skweaking, leaking, knocking engined Cobalts HAPPILY dropped off after a year of ownership it'd be enough for them to see they need to improve their cars and stop the "just building them" mentality and start a "engineering and refineing them" sensability

i can see a lot of people taking advantage of this in a bad way.......
turn it in @ 11,500 for only $1500? damn that woudl last me a year and i could get a new car every year for that little. :p
sounds liek it can and will be abused.
i think if you did it once you wouldnt get another chance at an offer like that
^but why not? what if you werent happy with X car, and wanted to try Y car and did not like that either? i am thinking two times tops
sounds like a really good idea. i wonder if other companies are gonna follow.
